Talk about spring being here. Arrived late as I saw in the weather report that it should be sunny and around 50. They werent lying. While not quite t-shirt skiing weather, I was definately feeling the warmth at the end of every run. Crowds were the largest Ive ever actually seen at Whiteface with the World Cup halfpipe finals going on, even still the longest lift line I waited in was my first gondi at 1030 and that was only about ten minutes. After that I just stuck above mid-station to the summit and Mt. Run chairs.
Run of the day was definately the snowfields off the summit to Skyward/ Niagra / lower Cloud. Mt. Run was a very close second with perfect cover and beautiful spring snow. By the end of the day everything was pretty bumped up, but the bumps (at least on the blacks) were evenly spaced and flowed well even on my snowboard.
Bad news is was there there was noticable base loss from when I was there on Tuesday. Kind of a bummer considering the warm temps wont return till Wed. I wont be able to ride there until after break again, which will be around the end of March. Heres to hoping my favorite trails will still be ripping then.
Overall a great day, spring skiing hero snow on a bluebird day always brings a smile to my face.
