This has been one crappy weather week, that's for sure. I'm psyched though that things are looking up after tonight for some good snowmaking temps. Man, I can tell you that I would be going batty right now if I didn't get out last weekend. I can't imagine what so of you must be going through. So who hasn't been out yet and how are you coping?

Just keeping my eyes on the prize, after everyone's suggestions about NOT going to Attitash for their free friday, I'm probably heading to either Stratton (free) or Sunday River (40 bux, but alot bigger).
I can't get hung up about the weather, I'm bummed but not in control, and I definitely cannot change it. It does look really promising this upcoming week and I hope the temps stay low for a very long time to come, in fact if it didn't peak above 35 degrees until March, I'd be a happy SY.

Not out yet...in a way it's OK since I need to get my new boots set.

It's hard for me to go any distance so I usually don't "expect" to get out before 1 December anyway.

Unless things change in a hurry, though, I'll be real bummed out...

I haven't been out yet though I was supposed to be going on a 4 day trip up to VT. Given the current conditions I do not see a point. I would rather save my money and vacation days and take the trip when its actually somewhat worth it.

What is really help me cope with all this is the upcoming Utah trip. I plan on being in SLC December 12 to December 17. I guess as long as its snowing either in SLC or in the NE I am happy cause I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The question is, how will I deal next week when neither SLC nor the NE are expected to get a lot of snow.

Oh, I have found tuning the crap out of my skis and waxing them 5 times over also helps pass time. This weekend I will spend some time trying to decamber skis - that should keep me occupied.

I've been out twice, and I can tell you it's like getting two fixes of heroin then going cold turkey.

Not that I know what heroin is, uh... like... but. Ahh.... yeah.

No skiing and no snow make Marc something something....

Go crazy?

I haven't yet. Actually I'm staying kind of Zen about it. I was freaking out more a month ago, for some reason.

Last weekend Ms. Shwilly and I had a great visit with my family in SC. I had a wonderful time seeing everyone and watching football.

I do think I'll have to get a day this weekend, no matter how marginal, if there are lifts running at all.

I haven't. We had planned to go somewhere over Thanksgiving weekend. We're pretty much a 4+ hour drive from anything that's been open, and really don't want to spend the money on an overnight trip until there's a least a reasonable amount of terrain open. I suppose Mt. Snow might be a doable day trip, but it would be along day. We'll drive to WaWa to ski a few hours on limited terrain but the 3-4 hour trips are not worth it. I'm thinking that given the forecast, Crotched may be able to get a fair amount of terrain open by next weekend.

I hope so as well...if there's only one way down then I'm sure it will be a WROD.

They can definitely crank out the snow, though... :snow:

I have not been out yet because either the conditions where not favorable or I was buzy with moving. I would like to get a day in next weekend before we move into our new house on the 12th. I am not in a rush because I will get plenty of skiing in after Christmas when we settle down, the conditions are better and we are a 2 hour drive from Vermont skiing.

Thanksgiving was the time for my first turns for the past 3 yrs - all natural West Virginia powder. Not this year! Shorts & t-shirt... my only consolation is that it hasn't been that good up north either. With luck, that will change in the coming week... hope to find out in VT next weekend!
