Pre. Started '93. In fact, I have a pair of skis that I got around '96 standing up in the corner of my bedroom right now, straight as an arrow.

Of course, being a bump skier, even my current skis are fairly straight.

Started skiing in the early 80's then stopped in the late 80's. Took it back up in 2006 and was amazed at how the equipment changed.

Pre. My first time on skis was ~1983ish when I was about 5 y/o. Amazing to think just how many skiers have only skied after parabolic designs started taking off.

pre shaped skis!! Started skiing during the winter of 1987-88!! I went through an assortment of straight boards (mostly bump skis) before my first set of shaped skis.

If I remember correctly...the first time that I tried shaped skis was at Jay Peak during a PSIA clinic in 94 or 95. It was a pair of the Elan parabolics. The technology of shaped skis has come a long way since those boards.

Same with me, started in the late 70's then stopped in the mid 80's and took it back up again in 2006, it was a huge difference, I really like shaped skis so much more.
