Interesting developments this season with all the spring snow. I know resorts hve announced closing dates, but with recent storms, it may be good PR to delay closing. My vote for last mountain standing is Sugarbush. Win and company have put a lot into the mountain and I believe will be looking for the PR. Plus, Win is a skier. Next up would be Killington. New owners taking over by end of month, pass prices not yet announced. Could be good for sales if they announce prices around the end of the month, extend the season, and allow next years pass holders to use their passes for the remainder of this season.

Andy's reasoning was convincing enough to me :) I voted for SB, with Killington being the next option IMO.

I'm thinking we may see something from the ASC resorts. Sunday River being my guess casue of the same reasons AndyZee is mentioning. Next year Pass Sales. Maybe a bit from the hopeful side. K, Bush and The River will be the last unless the Loaf closes as predicted at the same time as the River..

Killington announced may 6 as last day. Jay's is April 29, I think i read somewhere that SB last fulltime date is april 22 with WE only after that.
Presently, it looks like a blizzard outside my window and it's April 12. hopefully some of those dates can be pushed back

I vote Sugarbush. I also predict a reopening at Mount Ellen with downloading on the GMX into May. You know all this snow that fell this month? It's just sitting up there...

If the snow coverage at LP was poor I think your prediction would hold some credence but since LP has tons of snow I don't think it would make any sense. I do think that Win is definately considering staying open to beat kmart or whatever resort it is, to be the last to close.

If the PR/marketing benefits outweigh the cost I think it might happen. The need to sell units at Claybrook might be the unknown factor when deciding to stay open beyond the announced April 29 closing.

It's difficult to say what the lower elevation coverage at LP will be in 2-3 weeks. That snow up high at Ellen is not seeing any skier traffic right now. That along with the slightly higher elevation and a good downloading option, and I think there's a chance they'll utlilze Ellen into May. Win even hinted at it as a possibility.

My opinion on whether ME will be re-opened is based on the Bush closing on the 29th, if they decide to go into May then I think your prediction gets alot more credence, for sure.

In this discussion, whether today, a month ago, a year ago, 10 years ago, I think everyone agrees that ME would have the better snow coverage. The crazy thing is that all this late snow has made the thinking process on when to close alot more complicated for SV. Whatever ends up being done the one thing for sure is that this is a very positive finish to what has become perhaps the biggest season turnarround in history for the Bush and many other ski hills/resorts.

One ironic factor is that all this winter weather in the past month across the midwest and the east is one of the primary reasons for the spike in prices at the pump, disaffecting some people in their desire to drive to ski a long distance to ski this late.

You guys are funny!

Even if there is plenty of snow, the 'Bush won't go past Killington into May... They don't have to...

and North will not re-open at that.

I got a feeling, feeling deep inside...........

Agree with the assesment of North opening, but not so sure about them not staying open longer than K

I don't see North reopening, but as long as people are still skiing (hint hint... come up here!), there's no reason the Bush couldn't surpass K-mart this year.

For now, I have the All For One so I will be skiing K. Once K closes, if the Bush is open, I'm there, as I imagine would be the case with others.

I think it will come down to Sugarbush and Killington and from here on out with the new management heading into Killington, those two will be at war every spring to come.
