I'll try to ski in the White Mountains Friday and Sunday, however if pickings are slim I'll go over to Vermont where I'm sure Killington will welcome me with open arms and mid-season ticket prices...

Serious.

If I get to K on Friday or Saturday and the lift tickets are more than $41, I'm going to make Andy pay me the difference.

I think Bretton Woods may be my best bet in Bartlett area, I'll be there Friday and Saturday. I was hoping for some turns on Thursday, but I'll need to see what's open - maybe Killington.

Hopefully I can ski at least one of those days. Think snow!

jimg was a little harsh with his assessment, but considering jay has no natural snow any where on the mountain, you are going to be spending money on a lift ticket one way or the other.

i'll be at jay a few days next week... pending they open.

Perhaps...I'm really trying to get Austin to think a bit. As you pointed out, there will certainly be limited natural snow if any. There may be no manmade snow this coming weekend, so it is probably best Austin stay at home.

The harshness you detect is my growing dislike of what I consider an artificial divide that is developing between the "turn earner" crowd and the "lift rider" crowd. We have enough silly distinctions and cliques between snow sports lovers as it is. Whatever floats your boat is fine, just don't try to convince anyone else that one way is better than another. It's all good, and I only do both as much as possible.

Rant over.

T-Day wkend.........

Sunday would be my option, but I can wait a little....after having gone this long...and having been forced to deal (mentally) with this weather.. The advantage in living in the sticks is that if the skiing is questionable, there are nice areas to walk/jog/hike... Kudos to the winter clothing industry for making the outdoor experience in winter enjoyable:grin:

I'm on a roll today...I'm stirring the pot over at the Huntermtn board with some folks who are going off about how Hunter needs new lifts because the current ones break down too much and they wait in line too much. One guy actually said that he's older than the rest of us and that he remembers lifts lines that averaged over 1 hour!

Come to think of it, time to go back and see if I've riled anyone up.

If money is really of no concern try the Mountainview Grand Resort And Spa in Whitefield.

oh man, too bad they dont allow pets, it does look like a nice place.

Sugarbush Village has Condos ($170-$205 / night) which allow pets, but they doubt any beginner trails will be open for my wife thanksgiving weekend.

I am hearing a lot of nice things of Brenton Woods, but cant find any condo's there that will allow pets.

Sorry late in on this. BW is very mellow and many things off mountain as well as on mountain.. Have you called them direct and asked for help? I have before and they usually go the extra mile for ya. I would think they would know of a pet friendly place. I would rent you mine, but bride is alergic to dogs. If you don't find something send me a pm. I'll check and see if I can find a place in the area.

I have a clique called NAMFALA. North American Man-Farm Animal Love Assoc...

Ahhh... nevermind. I doubt anyone here would be cool enough for it.

You got it you cheap bastid!

Meh, you still owe me royalties for your ski film anyhow. So let's see, $72-$41 for a ticket is $31 off your total debt, which should reduce it to.... let's see, carry the one... $999,969.

You can just cut me a check, or whatever.

Huh...most folks agreed with me including the guy with the 1 hour wait...that's no fun!

I'm guessing riverc0il will not be as agreeable when he reads my reply here. I'm just not into these classifications and groupings.

But I guess alot of skiers are into it...maybe this is why some skiers like to put pins and patches on their gear?

Pins... BAW HAW HAW....

I remember being totally drunk at the Mangy Moose in Jackson and walking up to some guy with a hat covered with pins and saying
"WOW !!! You got a ton of pins... You must be a GREAT skier" - he replied that he was...

Of course we saw him the next day and he was horrible... total poser.. the next night we saw him at the MM again... And kept pretending to cough while saying "PINHEAD"...
We were cracking up...

Found out later he was from Texas....

After slapping a Ski the East sticker on my helmet I have made the jump from intermediate to expert.

My wife and stayed in a place with our dog a few summers back that was in Jackson, which isn't too far from BW I don't think. It's not a condo, but they did have rooms with kitchens I believe. I'll see if I can dig up some info if you want.
