Franconia Notch has a few chalets that are pet friendly in Mittersill
North Conway Rentals also has 2 choices in Glen.

not sure really how far these are from BW or which are nicer, but Franconia Notch was a lot more helpful over the phone.

Franconia is only 15- 20 minutes away from bretton woods. Glen is probably 20 minutes.

Perhaps...I'm really trying to get Austin to think a bit. As you pointed out, there will certainly be limited natural snow if any. There may be no manmade snow this coming weekend, so it is probably best Austin stay at home.

I'm was betting on natural snow next week at Jay Peak. IMO there will be natural snow trails skiable at Jay by next weekend. Not enough to open, but enough to be skiable, and pretty good. And why the heck would I be better staying at home? I have a Wildcat season pass, and going for a hike doesn't cost anything. Sitting at the computer is better than going for a hike? [/quote]

The harshness you detect is my growing dislike of what I consider an artificial divide that is developing between the "turn earner" crowd and the "lift rider" crowd. We have enough silly distinctions and cliques between snow sports lovers as it is. Whatever floats your boat is fine, just don't try to convince anyone else that one way is better than another. It's all good, and I only do both as much as possible.

Rant over.

Saying that I don't want to waste money on a lift ticket is creating a divide? If conditions were just groomers I said that I would just go to Wildcat. If there is enough natural snow I would ski Jay Peak. Riding a lift is going to more than double the cost of the trip for me. There will probably be long lines, and big crowds. I would rather just go over to the other side of the mountain were there is no other people, and do a few laps at the top of the mountain.

Maybe it's just the way I read it Austin...you made it sound like lift tickets are just a waste. And it made me flash back to come of the recent discussions about which is better, hiking/touring or riding lifts. To me, neither is better or worse, they're both skiing and that's the only issue.

Don't mind me, I was on a mission to stir the pot here and in other forums yesterday. I really expected a big comeback from riverc0il, but alas I failed. Hope he's not pissed at me.

This is what happens when it's 70 degrees and raining buckets at 8:00pm in mid-November.

No problem. Words never come out the right way on the internet. And in no way are lift tickets a waste. I already have 2 seasons pass, and I'm thinking about a third. I'm just very cheap and don't mind hiking especially if the lines are really long.

I will be skiing that Saturday (11/25) somewhere. Possibilities include Hunter, Jiminy or Killington. That's the order of preference too. Who else plans on getting out?
Well, with Jiminy likely out of the picture, it looks like possibly Hunter or Killington for next Saturday. I think I'm going to opt out of Killington even if they open. A Saturday during a holiday weekend with only the opening day WROD and a 3.5 hour drive to get there is not that enticing. Come on Hunter!

Wus! :smash:

Hardly. If Hunter opens the HBK option by Saturday, that's a 1,600' vert WROD. The Killington Glades area is probably less than half that. I'm certainly not going to be running laps on the K1 if I go there.

So, drive 3.5 hours to battle the destination resort crowds on 800' at Killington, or drive a bit over 2 hours to battle the Hunter crowds to ski 1,600' vert? I'll take the latter, thanks..

Just bustin, actually considering Hunter as well, depends on what they have opened.
