With the forecast for lower temps after this weekend, will the resorts make snow in preparation for the February break?

Which resorts are you referring to?

Some have enough snow that they are done, but most will make snow since the Feb break is their last "big revenue" time.

I'd venture a bet that only a handful of resorts up north will make any more snow the rest of the season.

It's been a real great year for the resorts in terms of not having to make a lot of snow. I'd bet on average, resorts have invested half of what they had to last season. Perhaps I'm wrong. The judgement is purely based upon the fact that even here in Portland, ME, we've had complete ground cover with snow since the beginning of December, even through the January thaw.

DANG! Sounds like I am missing a lot up north. I've spent most of the season at Jiminy with my two oldest in the rec racing program.

I guess I was thinking about southern New England in general as well as Gore more specifically. We are spending the Feb break there with the extended family.

Mt. Snow is making snow. I'm thinking they're going to try to be first to open, last to close in VT this year.

From the snow report today:

Snowmakers are in Spring-depth mode, focusing their sights on Deer Run and Long John tonight. In most spots, Long John currently has about a 4-foot base. But more can’t hurt when you’re looking to stay open late into the Spring, right?

Yes, even though we have gotten over two feet of new snow in the past 72 hours and are 100% open, we will continue to make snow when the temperatures are right to get certain trails ready for a busy President's week and to build more snow on our spring trials so we can remain open through April.
