No. Because there are a lot of better things than a bad day of skiing. And yes, there is such a thing, especially when money, travel, and time that could have been better spent doing other things are added to the calculation.

Come on guys, the ski season is too short for us to just miss days just cause we don't wanna ski spring conditions. Hey I don't like soft, mushy snow just as much as the next guy, but it's still skiing and you can still enjoy the day on the mountain.

It's too short of a season to miss a day just cause the snow isn't absolutely perfect. And hey, shorter lines.

You guys are gonna hate me for this, but the best thing for the rest of the seaon's sake would be if nobody went on the snow until it's cold again. I've even enjoyed skiing in the rain in April but that's usually the last days of the season. I hate to see the base get mashed down any more. I would fully respect a ski area's decision to close for the weekend (but with a little notice) for this reason.

Spring conditions are fine. Frozen slush isn't. Skiing isn't the only fun thing in the world to do.

Anyways, I might end up at Wachusett Sunday afternoon if I have nothing better to do. Maybe I should take advantage of the weather and just go skateboarding instead... On second though, no. I will probably injure myself, because I suck, and be done for the rest of the season.

I voted "no way" but that's because I'm working through Monday. I plan on heading up to Belleayre on Tuesday and by then they should have had a good few nights of snowmaking.

Spring conditions? Have you been reading the trip reports this week? I had a blast skiing spring bump conditions Monday night. It has been pretty crappy since then as it rain, froze, got real hot, rained, and froze again with a lot of fog thrown in for good measure. I doubt conditions will get much worse than this weekend. Having flash backs to early to mid-December 2006, no thanks! Ski season is too short.... too short to waste time skiing conditions that suck and wishing I was else where. This isn't about the snow not being "absolutely perfect," this is about the snow sucking horridly.

I just printed out the free cupon for my son at Mount Sunapee and I also printed out the trail map and highlighted what was opened. I showed it to my son and told him that the glades where closed and he said, that's okay dad, we've been in the tree's enough this season:-o.

So it looks like we may be Mount Sunapee bound, hopefully there grooming and snowmaking is as good as they claim it is.

Noramally the answer would be yes. With V being hurt and our season passes being turned in, I rather just stay home and give the mountains a chance to recuperate.

Not us. Dear friends who moved to the west coast are back in town this weekend, so we wouldn't be going anyway, but the weather makes it easy. It will be kind of nice to stay in the newly warm and damp city, sleep late, and run errands. We'll be back up next weekend.

Trust me, I had to convince myself thoroughly not to go and thought about this...
spring conditions I had last sunday when the thaw started... since then it's been heavy and heavier unskiable slop... and then it rained some, and then it froze. I was thinking of doing a tour or something in NH but I don't want to ski frozen crud - we don't even a breakable crust that could be chopped up and sort of skied - just a thick frozen layer of snow. I ain't driving for groomed frozen death cookies.

well for someone (me) who's not on a pass and who is a day tripper there is a cost/benefit line I'm not willing to cross. It's just finished raining, the temps are going down, Mr. Freeze is coming out, working his number on the wetness. It's not gonna be spring skiing any more. Most areas need a few days / week to crunch it all back up, blast manmade and mix it in. Next week I'll be out. There are more skiing days ahead of us than behind. And yes, I've had a "bad day of skiing".
