Pretty pleasant day. Surprisingly not crowded at all. Snow was good and never waited more than a few chairs all day. The cold and end of vacation week must have kept most away

Snowmaking at full bore in many places on the hill. Insane whales on Peekamoose. Algonquin lit up top to bottom. Good bump lines on Yahoo and all soft snow.

Heading back tomorrow.

Belle is really pumping out the snow. Visibility was poor on the upper mountain. Trails with active snowmaking had copious amounts of soft snow that skied great but seeing stuff was an issue. Cold and windy too. Had to take 3 short breaks to defrost. The bump trails (Yahoo, Onteora, Mohawk and Winnisook) had been recoated the night before and were all fantastic. Plus I could see without the snow guns blasting. Light natural snow all day as well. Dot also skied very well. Turned out to be a good day.

Even though it was sunny the whole ride up, I could see the snowstorm over at Highmount from the Rhinecliff bridge. Sure enough, snowing and windy when I got to Belle. 1-3" of fluff on top of a deep manmade base everywhere. Everything skied great. Bumps on Yahoo were exceptional, hard to pick a favorite run today. The gondola was closed due to wind, on a day when it might have been useful. Man was it cold and windy! But worth it.

More snow tomorrow, still not near getting any trees open. Naturals need more snow too. Gonna head back to Belle Sunday, but it's time to get up to VT. Heading up to K for 3 days next Wed Thurs Fri. Hoping for a lot of 3 day trips to VT from here on out.

Every year I kick myself for spending money on hotels early season. Often it seems like a waste.

So this season it's going to be 3 day trips as the norm. And stay longer if conditions warrant it. Wait until after the holidays to start going up to VT. And I'll save some on gas as a bonus. Hopefully the conditions will be better for me by waiting.

Clear day but Tramside was completely shut down for wind and a broken Metro Quad. Still got a solid half day in before making the long trip home.

Another great day of skiing bumps. Crowds were ridiculous and they were parking people on the access road shortly after 9:15. I got there early and got a great spot in the first Tomahawk lot. Plus, the singles lines moved quickly and I never waited more than 5-10 minutes.

And now I'm done with Belle for a bit. Heading up to K Wed-Fri. Then more VT next week and the rest of January.

I hear you, but this has been the best early season in Vermont I can recall
Decisions, decisions; hard to try to do everything all at once.

A small consolation is that Belle has had awesome snow quality and even a few trees and naturals open. Yeah, the terrain is meh, but I'm happy just making turns. I was also happy my better half was all in on me going on 3-day ski trips solo.

Day #49 today at loon, #50 planned for tomorrow at cannon. Fifty days used to be a good season, semi-retiring at age 40 was the best decision i ever made.
