Why do you use the avatar you do? I tend to post pics of me skiing that display my awesome form and skiing prowess. ;) Occasionally, I'll post a hiking pic. Currently, I have a sidewalk chalk drawing of me that my 3 year old daughter drew on our driveway. It was basically the first time I saw her draw a person; complete with the arms and legs jutting out of the head, as all little kids do... :)

She got the number of hairs on your head just about right. ;-)

My current avatar shows my mad climbing skills on a V0/5.8.

I try to use a pic of me skiing too, I guess to warn people ahead of time of my terrible form. ;) This year I decided to go with more summer orientated pics in the summer. I'm currently using a pic of me with my daughter in her pack going for a hike around Ski Sundown.

I need to get some pics of me skiing. Don't have any good ones. Next AZ outing?

I used to use a pic of my helmet - giro 9 grey base w/ red flames. Now it's the A's logo. It's been good to be an A's fan post-all star break this century... at least until the post-season...

I'm just rotating my pics until I get a good on of me in action this winter. I've done an Om symbol, my dogs, and my current avatar with a happy couple at Ithaca Falls.

Eh, like to change it every once in awhile and I just put up whatever I feel like putting up at the moment. Don't purposely look for anything special or meaningful, but do find I've been putting up whatever I've been busy with. i.e. skiing, blueberry picking, biking, and back to skiing :spread:

I tend to use whatever fits the moment.. for instance, I had a pic of me biking in the Trek of Maine for the first part of the summer...then I went to Corea, Maine for vacation and took a pick back from that... kind of a reminder of good times... come winter it'll be skiing for sure..

Since I really don't have any pictures of me skiing I just have a picture of the lift that I work at a lot during the ski season. The photo is the upstairs of the bottom terminal of the Sunapee Express at Sunapee.

This was the final frame drawn by Bill Watterson in the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip, never has there been a comic strip that caught the wonder spirit of youth so well, so perfect. Plus Watterson was able to create so many good strips pertaining to the magic of snowfall from the eyes of a child.
The attached link showcases some of the best 'snowman episodes' <a calvin and Hobbes Snow Gallery

and 10 points to anyone that can correctly quote Calvins last lines (I photoshoped them out for my Avatar as they were too small to read)

oh and a bonus what is "GROSS" an acronym for

yea, that was a great comic strip...if you like that one maybe you would like Red and his Dog, not as good as C&H but still captures a child's ability to have an incredible imagination plus the relationship with his dog.

I enjoyed it in the Portland, Maine paper but unfortunately the paper I get in Vermont does not have it.

<------ this is me skiing kitz woods at jay peak. from_the_NEK got a really good shot of me in the trees. it reminds me of how great the powder was the day i broke my elbow last season. i have generally updated my avatar once per season with a new pic of me skiing that season. at one point, i had a hiking pic of me blacked out against a vibrant sunset. i enjoy seeing avatars with people in either hiking or skiing shots (or cycling if that is what you prefer).

Mine is of me skiing on spring corn at Killington after the lifts stopped turning and after we hiked to the summit.

I like it because it is similar to Steve's above me, and he's a really good skier. Except my uphill hand dropped back probably too much and I'm on the wrong spot on a small bump and I could've angulated more my shoulders should probably be more square...

Anyway, it was a good shot.
