my top three:

1) zoomer triple at cannon. a fairly fast lift, comfy seats, and a great view of skiers coming down zoomer on the way up. quick and fast repeating runs on the front face, can spend hours on that lift. love it for the accessability.

2) red double at magic. it might be slow, but i sure need the rest after a run at magic! i love doubles in general any ways. great fun watching the heroics below the lift on red line.

3) wildcat's high speed quad. fast lift, comfy seats, great view, and one lift to access all terrain, some of the best top to bottom skiing in new england.

correction, those are my favorite lifts currently in service. if i had to do a top three including defunct lifts, wildcat's gondi would get first place hands down.

Easy. The East Basin Double Chair at Loon.
  • Great views of the Basin diamonds.
  • Let's out at the summit with the potential to ski almost anywhere on the mountain.
  • Lines are relatively short.

Great topic!

nice pick greg. east basin double chair is the ONLY way to ski at loon! at least until the expansion gets done. plus, it's a double! who wouldn't want to ride it! i wish loon was less crowded... the mountain doesn't have a lot to offer me, but the diamonds off the east basin are great trails.

Bump. This thread is worthy of revitalization. And here's a new one:

The Beartrap Double at Mount Snow. If there are no lines you can get in a lot of bump skiing on Beartrap. It's like two minutes to the top, just enough time to catch your breath. Great views of people jammin on Beartrap, plus the tunes!

I miss the old Pomas at Okemo. It would lift you off the ground a few feet on take-off.

No one's going to know this lift because it's at PNS which is the only place I've been, but anyways:

Chair 5 (They don't give them names.)

  • Kinda comfortable.
Access to 1 Double Black, 1 Black, 3 Advanced Intermediates, and 2 Blues.
Nice views of people coming down the double black.
Also get to see the people chasing down the double black right after the glades.
    Goes through trees.

My favorite current lift is the Single at Mad River Glen. Although it's exceptionally maintained, there is still that feeling of fear because you're alone in a very small chair. But overall I think it's a rock solid lift. My favorite part is just after loading--rocking forward and backward as you climb up to the first tower.

Thanks Greg. I will do that right now.

This site is new to me so I wish to thank you for what looks like a lot of love and hard work that you've put in.

Thanks for the kind words, Joshua. And yes, it has been a lot of work (almost 5 years worth, part-time), but it's been a lot of fun and has afforded me a lot of opportunities. The lift ticket giveaways are one way I can give something back to all the people who've visited and made it so successful.

I've gotten to know a lot of great people (although I have yet to meet any of you face-to-face) through the forums and the Flags on the 48 event. I also have built a great rapport with many of the marketing folks at Northeast resorts. People who love mountains are typically very genuine individuals.

Again, welcome aboard. Hope to see you posting here from time to time!

Weird, I was just going to make a thread asking what your favorate lift was, then I saw this. A few of my favorate chairs would be.

Wildcat HSQ- real fast and serves a lot of vertical

castlerock- nice spread out chairs to keep traffic down, awsome ungroomed terrian, and the most comfy seats arounds :D

Collins HSQ, Alta- has access to some of the best terrian anywhere

I second this. Slow as molasses, but worth the wait...

The "Y" lift at Hunter...
Only services expert terrain... Never a line...
Great to watch people on Westway(44)...

Devils Fiddle chair at Killington...
For some of the same above reasons...

Sublette Chair at Jackson Hole... Makes life ALOT easier since they put it in... Less chairs to ride to get to the good stuff... :)

wow!

hello old bump!

ok, so here's my favorite's:

1-Madonna 1 at Smuggs. Its a long ride in that old, slow double, but its worth it for the woods runs!

2-MRG's Single-there's nothing else like it on the East Coast!

3-Cochran's T-bar. I learned how to ski at Cochran's, so I spent many years riding up and falling off of that old t-bar.

Will always have a place in my heart...Burke's Willoughby Quad, which was the first quad I ever rode. Great views...steep ride...and if you're lucky, the summit towers and trees will be covered in frost.

Other favorites include the Slide Brook Express at Sugarbush, when they run it  as well as Jay's Bonaventure Quad or the Jet Triple which are both steep and offer scenic rides.

Pats Peak's Vortex and Peak Doubles are also interesting rides...fast and steep.

1) Castlerock double - So many goods, so few skiers, so much snow.

2) Madonna 1 - Same, same, and same, only a lot colder and longer

3) Deeper Temerity (Aspen Highlands) - This lift doesn't exist as of yet - it's being installed this summer. Regardless, I've skied that terrain multiple times and rest assured, this lift will instantly become legendary in the lore of North American skiing. The terrain that it serves is unbelievably varied and uniformly challenging. It includes the super steep (and long) bump runs of Steeplechase, the long and steep trees runs in the Temerity area, and the unrivalled steep, open bowl skiing of Highlands Bowl. This lift will go down with the legends like KT-22, Jackson Tram, Snowbird Tram, MRG Single as one worth lining up at for a long time on powder mornings.

4) MRG Single - Accesses a ton of terrain and doesn't crowd the hill. That's good enough in my book.
