watching the web cam now - people falling on the ice in front of the lodge, skis/boards being blown off the racks by the wind, and of course the usual mess of people navigating those insane steps but with ice today.

very high winds, More people coming off the mountain than going up for sure. It has got to be tough skiing today

Has Hunter been making snow the past few days?
With the winds, I don't believe that anyone has made snow the last few days, as it would probably end up a few miles away!

Guessing most resorts though, short of a spot touch up here and there in isolated spots are done for the season, as with the lack of any real thaw and/or big rain events for most of the Northeast ski resorts since basically New Years, they were likely able to reach their planned, desired base depths for their late season ops plans sooner than usual without having to keep going back an resurfacing trails post thaw/freeze up like often happens in most January's/Early February's

It’s amazing no info on the website about current snowmaking. Mid station cam needs to be tilted up so we could see further up the hill. The snow report is always a mix of two days. The weather for a three week stretch was prime for snowmaking and Hunter took advantage, Great Job. Hunter needs to work on comunication with the customers.

How is it skiing? Snow making helping things out? I'm between Bell and Hunter for a few hours tomorrow morning. Sounds like Bell had resurfaced just about the whole mountain, but I have some Epic days to burn, so....

Snow surfaces were good except wet snowmaking on Racers
thanks. Looks like bell re-opened the glades, and I haven't skied dreamcatcher yet. Seems unlikely to be good given the frozen hells cape in our yard an hour south, but gonna give it a shot.

Time to vent...........we just spent 5 days up here (getting new roof installed), why is Hunter not doing a thing? Looks like they are finishing up the roof? Place is completely empty, not a sole walking around. Heck even Dolins lake says no swimming allowed. We went to the hotel for supper and there was just us and another couple there. Most restaurants are only open Fri-Sat-Sun, if at all. I looked at both Okemo and Mt Snow's websites and they've got bike trails, concerts, camps! What could possibly be this thought process, it's a Vail resort that's an hour and a half from a MAJOR city, yet they leave it empty. Who did we Hunter second homers piss off??

its been said on this thread multiple times already, but all they care about is growth and epic pass sales. all of the other 'bullshit' really makes no difference to them.

For the same reason they've largely killed any ancillary off-season services everywhere else in the East, the margins aren't there and they don't care.

One of the reasons killington expanded off season activities was to retain ther winter help year round. in todays labor market this is key to keeping management busy with supporting cash flow. Could be one of the reasons Wilcat and Attatash hase problems retaing help.
