The the private bar is definitely in the old Wunderbar Space on the first Floor of VH across from the bathrooms. This is also the space that the Kids used to have Lunch. Someone sent me pics the other day of the bar being installed and other carpentry work being done. The plumbing and electrical infrastructure was already there so it won't be that hard to resurrect. Win once told me that the mushroom has many issues to address if it would ever be considered. All of the plumbing was ripped out, the windows are old and leaking and I think there might be structural concerns if they had a big crowd in there.

Lets be real. I doubt they will sell many of these passes. They didn't even sell 100 early ups passes when they were 300-400-500 $$$. It was the same 20 people every week. I think they over estimate the amount of fancy people there are who will be willing to shell out 2K.

Wow...I'm actually surprised the early ups number was quite that low. I expected a bit more. I guess with it being that low I'm now less surprised they discontinued that. And yes, I'd also be a bit surprised if they sell that many of these new passes. Part of me also wonders if it was priced high intentionally to allow it to fail (i.e. so someone can tell Alterra, "look, we tried what you asked, but this didn't work.")

Given that the real benefit is only giving you line cutting privileges for just 1 lift, I doubt they will sell enough for it to be any impact to the skiing public. Personally, I would feel like a complete schumk cutting the line with that pass. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

One thing I find interesting, besides reading about it here, I have not received any marketing trying to sell this program. Has anyone else?

This seems to also suggest that this brainwave came from Alterra HQ and someone who has no idea what is happening on the ground.

Any updates on the pond level? The Clubhouse?

I talked to family up at Burke. They are seriously worried about the water situation.

I've seen nothing beyond Sugarbush's "25/26 season loading...." YouTube video they posted yesterday had a lot of footage of the snowmaking pond, which seemed to be a way to indirectly speak to the community concern:

I received a direct e-mail. Oddly enough my dad did not. No idea who they tried to target. I spend nearly $0 ancillary revenue on the mountain, so they're barking up the wrong tree here lol.

They've been there a while...I don't quite remember how long, but I'm pretty sure quite a few years at this point.

Nice little video from Sugarbush:

I'm actually surprised they've been doing trimming in the glades!

So what did they do the rest of the time? Talk about how awesome Alterra is and high five each other?
He did talk about am Alterra board meeting that was held at the mountain during the winter. He mentioned that most of them had never been to Sugarbush. Maybe that explains the lack of interest/investment.

Ohhhhh I did not see the line cutting privileges. This will go over as well as it did at Killington and other POWDR Resorts.

It’s still a way to make more money. I’ll stand by with the thought that this was an edict from Alterra.
That's why I have a mid week Mad River Glen pass as well. It is really nice there when it is not a weekend/holiday. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford that as well as the Ikon pass. On principle, the Reserve Pass is a hard no. I'm guessing they eliminate the Wunderbar. Not sure where else they could do it, unless they renovate the old Mushroom space. The bathrooms there are circa 1958. Are they going to update those for the $2K upgrade crowd?

It should be the mushroom but I don't think Mtn Ops is moving their offices from there.
If that is the case, goodbye Wunderbar. Unless they build something new, which would cost far more than the marginal revenue from the $2K pass, assuming they sell all of them.

If that is the case, it is a pretty low brow space for a $2K/per person upgrade. Are they going to renovate the bathrooms and shut them off from those of us who don't pay for the upgrade that really has limited upside? The VH bathrooms are not that great, but they are nice to have if you don't want to go all they way down to Gatehouse if you find yourself on that side of the hill. Maybe the fact that they can renovate for short $ will mitigate the loss they have to explain to Alterra if they don't sell all of the Reserve upgrades, which I doubt will happen.

Let's continue the discussion of DVR over on the Deer Valley thread. My only question is where are folks seeing that Extel is footing the bill? DVR and Alterra are the ones getting all the publicity.
All the lifts and Mayflower resort build out was pitched as amenities to prospective real estate buyers well before Deer Valley was even involved. Mayflower was essentially Extel's resort. It appears that Alterra is just taking the credit for the new infrastructure. I highly doubt they pitched in after the fact!

On another note, the new Sunrise Gondola going in on the Canyons side was also subsidized by the builders of the Pendry hotel. It was in the offering document to prospective buyers that the developer was partnering with Vail to add the Gondola. Not sure how much was paid by the builder versus Vail's contribution but the Pendry home buyers definitely subsidized the new Gondola that Vail is taking credit for.

Vail paid 2/3rds, the Canyons management association pitched in 1/3rd. The next lift Vail announced for PC will be similar. Deer Valley East also has a public funding component. Why use private money when you can use public money!

I have a feeling this will have no affect on anything because there will be so few people buying in. I actually have a couple of well off ski friends in Claybrook and the general sentiment is why bother paying extra for that. Claybrook already cuts the line. This would be for the rice brook and gad brook people who don't get the privilege. Most locals are too frugal and no one here wants to even pay for skiing. LOL

The way I look at it, it just another step to getting our mountain back once revenue drops and Altera sells. YAY
