Santa was very good to me this year. I think he was making up for the 3 bags of coal he left me last year. One present he gave me was a helmet cam. I am very excited to mount that bad boy on my brain bucket and see how it works. Does anybody have one? I’m interested to hear how well they work.

I’m wondering how well it will hold up to a good terrain park crash. I think it will be interesting to see what one of my yard sales look like from a first person point of view. I always seem to close my eyes and get up with a broken thumb.

Congrats!!!

I know that was on Brian's wishlist this year, but I wasn't touching that with a 10 foot pole! I know nothing about such things and since I'm forbidden from buying "technology" for him, I left well enough alone. :D

excellent. I'm gonna purchase one real soon myself. I've just been curious lately to see first hand a mogul run at full speed.

I've had one for the past 2 seasons, a solid state camera from Oregon Scientific. The resolution on it is horrible, and it doesnt work great in flat light. Also, the noise of the skis tends to be very loud.

That being said, there were times when I def. had fun with it, and I think it cost me about $85 a few years ago. My understanding is that Oregon has released a newer version of the same thing that has better resolution and better frames per second capability but is still solid state and still sells for around $100 or less. I used mine mostly in the bumps and it was interesting and fun to have someone video some of your run from the bottom of the hill and then also have the helmet cam running, and then watch it from both angles. I don't go into the park a whole lot, and never had a major crash with it other than a few tumbles on the Olympic mogul run in Park City, and it held up well during them.

If your looking to put out your own ski dvd, its prob not the best camera, but if you are looking to post some fun stuff on youtube, it would do the trick.

I got the newer version that you were talking about. It actually seems pretty cool. I’m not expecting HD quality out of it. More or less I am just looking to have some fun tooling around the mountain. I did some research on it yesterday and found out it is waterproof up to 3 meters. I can’t wait to have the thing attached to my head during pond skimming this year

Thanks for the info!!

It's mounted on my brain bucket and ready for a test drive tonight. It should only take me a few months to figure out how to get the video off the camera and uploaded to youtube
