Hunter Mountain is Closed for the Season

Due to the weather forecast for the weekend (over an inch of rain is forecast), Hunter Mountain is now officially closed for the season. We'd like to thank all of our guests for a wonderful year!

As winter turns to spring, we're preparing for TAP New York, our annual craft beer festival celebrating New York's finest microbreweries on April 26th & 27th. Check out the TAP New York website for more details!

Summer operations begins July 1st with Mountain Biking and our Summer Skyride. Fly fishing excursions are now in operation through our Orvis retail outlet. The Kaatskill Mountain Club at Hunter and Van Winkle's Restaurant are open as well for a getaway during any season. Look for more information on summer time at Hunter Mountain on our website. Planning a wedding? Call us!

We hope to see you soon!

Just got this too. Midweek this week was my only chance to get over there and even if they were open, I couldn't pull it off. Still want to hike in May.

That sucks..it seems like this might be the earliest Hunter closing ever...Well I hope Belleayre is still open this weekend..despite the forecasted rain..it would be nice to ski with only a 3 hour drive..I might just make a day trip to Belleayre on Sunday with my voucher instead of going the whole weekend if Saturday is a washout..I'll see..

Blech. I was hoping to get up there once more for Sunday. Oh well. If it's going to be a rainy weekend, it doesn't make much sense to stay open for a rainy-day crowd (or lack thereof.)

Passholders up in arms... People are pretty pissed off...

Doesn't seem to be a really good reason other then the possibility of rain..

Condiditions are great!!!
Coverage is great!!
75% of the trails are open...
People are/were psyched to ski... Not the correct people though... The people that paid in advance for a nice long season..

Hunter closing early is BS

Many season pass holders who own and rent ski homes at Hunter (from Hunter realty and others) as well as all the steady weekend commuters plnned on skiing this weekend, RAIN OR SHINE, since this was known as the closing weekend at Hunter. Also the last weekend for most ski house rentals is this weekend. Some like myselve took a vacation day on Friday to make it a 3 day weekend. To close on the last PLANNED weekend of the year when there is plenty of snow left just because it MIGHT rain (when is the weather man ever right?) is a slap in our face! It's not about the weather, it's about Hunter being too cheap to want to staff the slopes and an excuse to try and save money! Even Bellearye is open this weekend! I'm so upset that I'm seriously thinking about renting next years ski house at Belleayre and buying season passes for my family there instead of Hunter. Let people ski in the rain if they want!! I did last weekend and if it does rain this weekend, it seems that I'll be skiing at Belleayre instead of Hunter, unless Hunter decides to VALUE their season pass holders and dpo the right thing!!!!!!!!!!! .
