Now, massive goal here, get Boeing to deunionize its engineering and move to Denver. Ah, heck, while I'm at it, move to Winter Park.

When I was there, it was weird.

You have to order food when you order a beer at a bar. Plus the beer is only 3.2% alcohol.

I was only in Utah once and we stayed in Park City. I did here that besides ordering food with a beer in SLC, you also had to buy a temporey membership to the bar. If you want to go to a different bar you need to buy a new membership. Can anyone confirm that?

This year I took the biggest step possible towards fitness goals I could make. I'm at day 30 of quitting smoking. I have a similar workout regimen as last fall, but have incorporated some running into my routine, which I would never consider doing as a smoker. If I can remain a non-smoker and continue a fitness routine throughout the season, then I would say, "Yes, I'm getting after it"

Good luck with quitting smoking - best thing you can do for your health.

pretty sure you don't need to be a member anymore...just this past April they made some pretty big changes in their liquor laws. Its not as bad as everyone thinks it is...at least in SLC and Park City. I wouldn't suggest moving to Bountiful or American Forks...or even Ogden for that matter, but SLC has loosened up.

I had a major goal, to be able to live in a ski town and not give up the financail needs I have become accustomed to. Its been a struggle at times but my w-2 say i am there. Not as easy as it was down in Albany but never thought it would be.

This year my Objective is to ski Marcy and Alg. I am in the proper shape. Now I am figuring out how I am going to do it. Whether I am going to take my back country gear into the bases and then switch to my AT gear. That is where I am leaning. It will be a decent amount of poundage to carry up but I think the smoother BC gear will get me there with less energy. Also want to get out to Macomb from the Necomb side. Never been out there but they get tons of snow and I can imagine that the skiing is superb.

So do you get after it or sit back and wait and see?

Both!
Getting after it by buying ski vouchers early which forces/helps me to use them later in the season. (come on ACE!!)

Sit back and wait and see:
Hope to ski with one or both of my boys this year!
Ski more!

That's a good one, you accomplished something alot of folks only dream about. I know you didn't throw your skis in the back of your car, came to LP, checked into a hotel and just hoped thing worked out.

You had a plan. Tell us what where the steps and how it evolved over time. Maybe it'll help someone on here considering the same type of thing.

I hear I-70 gets worse every year for traffic. Also, I'd like to go to a place with an actual lift for most of my skiing. Worth looking into, though.

I-70 does suck but is manageable if you leave either early (new snow) or late (no new snow). also it is not too bad on the midweek but you still want to learn about the "alternatives"real quick. A town like Evergreen would be less than 1/2 hour from downtown and well under an hour to LL, Abasin, Winter Park, and Keystone with Vail and Breck and Copper being a bit more. The skiing isn't nearly as lame as many will say it is, you just have to explore a little and check out little areas like Monarch and Sunlight after a storm.

If skiing is all you care about then Utah would be my pick-easy. I will say if you like skiing big mountains in the b.c. then Colorado has endless options with quality early summer and beyond skiing real close to Denver. Hiking and mountain biking are also excellent with many many options close to all. As far as a city goes Denver is pretty fun with lots of stuff to do, most will just get a glimspe as they pass from the airport and never really experience it. Rockies games are cheap!

I agree Truckee is where it's at for the whole picture. I personally would be moving there if the prospect of starting a business in California right now wasn't so fuct.

I've stayed at the base of Brighton, same deal you had to buy a membership to the "club" to drink.

If you meant "Loveland Ski Area" then you should have said Loveland Ski Area

I was assuming you meant Loveland Pass, because you said "Loveland Pass"

same difference

Loveland Pass is right above Loveland Ski Area. It was 16 years ago that I lived out there, but at the time the two names were interchangeable.

either way, next to what Utah has, I would consider Loveland to be the best area out west in terms of close proximity to the 'real world' read: jobs

One goal for this season. Keeping the lifts spinning @ Magic. Anything else is a bonus for me.

My Goals for 2009-2010

Big-
Keep it fun for the twins who will be 6 this season, I feel that this is a "make or break" year for them. They are asking about skiing now in August so I think they may already be hooked but I don't want to chance it.
Get to the MT 20 + times with the family
Get to the MT a few times ALONE
Get to the MT with just the wife a few times

Small-
Split time 60/40 between snowboarding (60) and skiing (40)
Ski/Ride more on Sundays
Spend less on Apres'
