Suppose to drive up today to WF and ski tomorrow. Meeting a buddy there that is home for the holidays. Only able to ski one day. Worth 5 or 6 drive to ski on ice? I am thinking of bagging it. I will be skiing with him in Feb in UT.

Doesn't look like it on radar. Calling for an inch on new but it has rained on the mountain.

I would bag it.

But then, I'm known as a sissy when it comes to conditions. ;) I'm picky on what I ski.

However you look at it, 6 hours driving for 6 hours of skiing? Only fresh powder warrants it (in my view).

Perhaps the locals of the 'Dak will update on the condition to help you make up your mind?

I agree with abc - bag it. Yeah, maybe snow at elevation, but unless it is substantial (4-6"+), it's gonna wet snow and turn to to ice when it freezes back up. TGood "base building". :( he ground is nice and frozen right now, so all that water can either go down...... or....... soak into not-very-deep base. Stowe is calling an inch of new on "wet packed" (that's a new one!), WF is calling it "Wet Granular", with a base temp of 35 @ 1pm.

Too bad. Another sucky holiday week for the resorts; I was hoping they would have better weather, even though I'm not skiing.
We need snow and cold. At the same time.

Today was very good, springlike.

I talked to local TV weather guy, Gib Brown, on the gondi today and asked him about tomorrow. He said warm until about late morning then temps will drop like GSS’s match.com date’s expectations when she answers her door. Winds will pick up, and we will have snow squalls so heavy you'll have a hard time seeing your hand in front of your face. Tomorrow will be ADK wild.

I woudn't drive 5 hours, but I'm making the 5 minute drive from my place. The morning should ski well, afternoon...well..wild.
