Hi, I've been skiing for over 10 years. But I still can't do moguls with ease!!
I am looking for tips/learning videos for mogul skiing.
Tips like:

- Keep you skis closer.
- Keep your skis downhill.

I find it really hard to do either :)

Repetition. There are no short cuts. Don't hit the bump field once or twice an outing and expect it to click. Also, there's a difference between surviving bumps and ripping them. Learn to identify the difference, then practice, practice, practice.

To boil the technique down a bit, start with keeping your hands up and forward. Ski the flats and take short snappy turns with a square upper body and a tight stance. Then hit the moguls and learn to identify where the good line is, and try to stick the turns through the bumps, even if it's ugly. Then it's time to take a more direct line and start to incorporate absorption and extension. A great resource on technique is Dan Dipiro's book:

http://www.amazon.com/Everything-Instructors-Never-About-Skiing/dp/142086159X

Mostly a focus on world cup style (which is the one with the most "flair") but it's an easy and quick read. Well worth the 11 bucks. Mogulskiing.net is good if you really want to immerse yourself in the WC style discussion.

Anyway, enjoy the learning curve. It doesn't happen quickly and if you get hooked on bump skiing you will never be satisfied with your technique which is why it's so enjoyable to me. Try to find an area with some low angle bumps and just hit them over and over and over. Hope this helps.

The technique part of the site is a nice place to start out, sorta a short summary of Dipiro's book. Biggest thing is your stance, needs to be tall so you can absorb bumps but keep your knees bent enough to avoid knee block. You can figure this out at home, stand straight up and rotate your shoulders as if your skis were across the hill and your shoulders are facing downhill. Your hips will be pointing about halfway between the feet and shoulders. Now bend your knees slightly, and your hips will align more with the shoulders; bending more won't do anything, that's what you use for absorption.

Start on lower angle bumps, if you can. And you really have to make sure to spend enough time working on your short radius turns on the groomers if you want to improve in the bumps. What you want is:

>Upper body (think shoulders/torso/head) always pointing straight down the fall line
>Quiet upper body (all movement should occur below the waist!)
>Quiet arms (pole plant should just be a flick of the wrist)
>Tighter stance (not necessarily locked boots, depending on personal taste)
>Good range of motion in absorption and extension (A&E)
>Early lead change (shift weight to your NEW downhill ski early in the turn)
>Pole plants on downhill side of mogul
>Eyes looking 3-7 bumps ahead at all times
>Keeping solid pressure on tongues of boots to really drive those tips down
>As little skidding as possible... keep the edges engaged, and tails following tips

I'm sure I missed a few things. Now, to learn how to do all of that: http://www.mogulskiing.net/education.html

Where do you ski, Vladimir?

Don't do it.
It would be cheaper, safer, healthier and less wear and tear on the car if you got hooked on heroin.

Practice on low angle bumps at Sugarbush or Camelback. Boiling down what the other guys have said, and they know more than I do: quiet upper body, quick hands, drive ski tips down, extend, and absorb.
