Hi everyone,

I've been searching hard trying to find some skiercross races here in New England. Does anyone know of any events? I've been searching for months now and can't find anything! Plus I wanted to race the X games qualifiers and contacted ESPN many many times to find out where the qualifiers are at with only one response. They said a month before the X games they will have a schedule up for the qualifiers. Well it's almost here and still nothing. Pisses me off! O well next year! In the mean time I'd like to race as much as possible so if anyone knows of an event please let me know!

Thanks!!!!

Sugarloaf had a course set up as a regular feature last year. You should check with them to see if they have races too.

Two resources to check out: USSA, United States Ski Association, Ski Racing Magazine.
I would think ESPN just broadcast the X Games. They would not be in the running a event.

I hear ya. There's almost no interest in the US for SkiCross :( I've been wanting to do events for awhile, but there's nothing good in the east. The best thing out there right now is the NorAm tour, which will give you an FIS ranking and possibility for X-games qualification. Unfortunately, there's no east coast events this year. It's also a pricey endeavor that requires both USSA and FIS licenses, plus event registration, and travel out west. Thought about doing it last year when there was an event at Lake Placid. Killington had a USSA level event scheduled this year, but it's been dropped. Here's the link for the NorAm tour.

The other option is through USASA. Even though it's the Snowboard Association they have a skier division at there boardercross events. I had thought about this too last year, but when I looked into it, there was only a handful of skiers signing up for the events. I haven't looked yet this year to see if more people are doing them.

ATP FREERIDE SERIES SKIER/RIDERCROSS
Closing out the ATP Freeride Series is the Skier/Ridercross. Fullthrottle action top to bottom through banked turns, bumps and jumps. Heats of 4-6 skiers and riders work their way to the finals in one of the most adrenaline pumping events of the season.

This is from the Vail Daily 1/31/11. Do a google search for more details.

“It's really from the desk to the podium, because I've been doing all the administrative worked for … the ASCA,” Puckett said. “I've just been working in the office, trying to raise money and help these guys do their racing in the World Cup. That doesn't leave a lot of time for training.”

Puckett's efforts at the desk were rewarded by Teller, a 27-year-old up-and-comer who hails from Mammoth Lakes, Calif.

“This is a really big day for the American Ski Cross Association,” Puckett said. “The American Ski Cross Association was formed this spring after the U.S. Ski Team dropped ski cross from its budget and we formed a new corporation. It was to help fund guys like Teller and, you know, we're looking toward 2014 and Sochi and all the World Cups in between and X Games and World Championships.
