I have a suspicion that Super Bowl will keep the crowds off the mountain a little bit. Given the mid-week storm in the works, I am planning a three day trip.

Which south Vt. resort is likely to be less busy? Unfortunately, we can't do Magic since missus and I need to take turns skiing to watch the baby, so we need mountainside accomodations.

Inn @ magic mountain (now the lodge vermont) is closer to the base lodge than the aux parking lot.

Good point on the Super Bowl. That usually means some thin crowds on Sunday. I'm thinking Saturday could be busy with the midweek storm.

I think most of the reosorts will be about the same level of "busy". aside from Magic, what were. You thinking? Snow? Stratton?

I was thinking maybe Pico. After the midweek storm, the conditions should be good. It has lodging by the lifts, so we can take turns without walking too far. Mt SNow and Stratton seems to get pretty steep in prices. Bromley is another option, but the hotel doesn't work as well with a baby. The Inn @ Magic said they are close, but not slopeside. We'll postpone that one until she is skiing. :D

Magic has trailside condos that are for rent & may be worth looking into. Not sure if there's any availability, but no doubt Magic will be the place to be this weekend. Great snow & zero lift lines to speak of!

Being in the hockey "business", I don't have much time off during the heart of winter. Superbowl Sunday and Beanpot Monday provide my only multi days off.

Have been at Loon on Superbowl Sunday for afew years now. It has been Season Pass holders until lunch time, then pretty empty after that. The following Monday, despite being the largest "sick day" of the year, still yields empty an mountain.

Loon has added a Weekend Event for disabled skiers, with a fund raiser on Sunday. There are links on Loon's site, if your budget allows for a donation to this worthy cause. (There but for the grace of god go I).

By the time we get north on Sunday, we will only have the afternoon left to ski. Am considering the 2 for 1 at Cannon for $67. But, would like to stop closer, to get more hill time.

Any thoughts on how crowded Ragged will be on Sunday ?

How tough is it to get the NH Resident $29 Sunday deal ? Need a drivers license for each person, or can one person with a "fuzzzy" resident proof buy multiple tickets ?

I also saw a few Liftopia deals, but I think they are sold out now.

Just to throw this at you. Whiteface is the same drive as PICO may be a little shorter and certainly a easier ride. The Pines inn In Lake Placid has a two day lift ticket for 104 bucks plus tax. Of course thats only good if you stay there but its a great place and the people who own it are real people.

You will not find Whiteface in better condition and if it has even been on your radar this may be the time to hit it.

Its not slopeside but there are free shuttles right out of the parking lo to the hill.

Wherever you go it is going to be a great weekend.

Thanks, I have actually been to WF and it is my favorite mountain in the east despite skiing there at -25F. I love that place. But my wife and I need to take turns skiing, so it is not doable for us this time.

I can't remember where we stayed, but we got a great deal from the innkeeper on lift tickets like you mentioned.

Pico is skiing great right now, add another foot and conditions will be amazing. much less crowded then other mountains during the weekends. the condos right there are very convenient and you cant beat a Guinness and stew at the Inn after skiing either!

Not at Cannon. They always do 2fer and its one of the most crowded Sundays of the year.Remember the Superbowl doesn't start until 6:30 which gives most weekenders plenty of time to get home and the local teams are not in it.

+1 The only times I have ever seen Cannon so crowded it wasn't even worth skiing were all on Superbowl Sundays.

The only other mountain I've been to on Superbowl is Sugarbush. That was the Pats/Giants year so pretty much everyone there had a stake in the game and crowds thinned early.

Nice- you'll love the vibe there! They're expecting snow this weekend too! What days will you be there?

Sat-Mo. :spread::daffy:

One person in the group needs to rent skis. Any recommendations?

For the tickets, is getting a multi-day at the window the best option?
