Looks like a Jay ad to me.
And the widening of Willoughby a few years back kinda goes against their state law idea. Not to mention Warren's and Big Dipper are pretty damn wide by design. If Burke is "true" Vermont skiing, what areas offer "false" Vermont skiing?
I like the added attractions are nothing more than distractions. What BS. Even if that marketing fluff was created pre-QBurke, Ginn certainly had big ideas for Burke and I think the folks running Burke know that they can't make it without distractions.
Thanks for the pic upload, billski.
No problem, billski. Always happy to pop into a thread and be a downer.Gee, that's a real positive response RiverThe poster was created two years ago. FWIW, I like it, true or not I am attracted to these ideals. I've met quite a few people there, locals and staff alike. The vibe of an area is often defined by its customers. For me terrain is half of it, the people the other half. I haven't met a soul I didn't like. I'm told it's trans formative after a few visits.

I like the ideals. My issue was that the ideals run contrary to what is actually there and happening. ..
The latest JPR piece that SBR posted is pretty good.
It all comes down to putting your skis on the snow and making turns. It's all good.
It's too bad the corporate hogs have snatched up Burke. Things probably haven't changed much except prices will go up. I just hope the hogs don't get their hands on Cannon.
Join us on the 9th. Sorry, can't help with the carpool, you're a straight shot up 91 and I'm not!I really want to try Burke again. Only time I've been there was over a decade ago, it was an ice storm, and half the trails were closed. I don't think they even had all the woods they have now back then either.
another sweet load of smoke to blow up someone's ass. seriously, people getting teary eyed and nostalgic about a ski resort spouting off about basic tenets of being a decent person is f'in sad.
the vibe at a hill is based on the locals who work and support the hill. live and ski somewhere long enough you get to know everyone, good and bad and in between, but either way, it means not being a douche, because chances are your crossing paths somewhere down the line
these adds are for the new clientele, the weekender spending the money these resorts will need to exist. pretty grim that you have to spend time reminding people to not be an asshole. must be one hell of a long ride from flatland wherever reciting the above mantra as if it is something unique to JPR and Qbert
Right.but either way, it means not being a douche,
I'm sure your nice. That wasn't the point. You and many others have been a part of the mountain long before it and burke needed to be steered to financial salvation. It doesn't take balls to know what decency is, it does take balls to have 2 faces though.
thanks. good luck with yours as well. think about this quote from jesus rodriguez:
and you want to be held in the highest regard
it delights you so much if he's trying so hard
and you try to conceal your ordinary way
with a smile or a shrug or some stolen cliche
I wonder where the kid smashing the other kids snowman add went, its hard to keep up with the image selection from year to year.
Maybe the soul power of this years effort would be enhanced by them showing how many "locals" they saved this year from being destitute.
once you start polishing you'd better not stop.
