I'm not sure it's explainable. lol There probably was at least some context as video existed, but the woman requested it be pulled down. Can you provide some context? How does this happen?
The "explanation" online is as follows:
According to an eyewitness, the woman attempted to board the gondola late. As the cabin doors closed, she placed her foot in the doorway, causing the doors to clamp onto her ski boot. The gondola continued moving, dragging the woman an estimated 50 feet beyond the loading terminal before the lift was stopped. She was left hanging upside down in the air, supported only by her trapped boot.
As a sidebar, I can confirm those doors are quite strong as I have had a boot momentarily caught in one too as the last person boarding, but I was fully in the cabin and just pulled my leg firmly. Pretty surprised the gripping power is so strong it can maintain the weight of an adult human. But the "unexplainable" part to me is why is she backwards? I'm thinking maybe she tried to abort loading? I'd really love to see the video. lol
EDIT: Alright, I found part of the video, media pulled it but Reddit didn't. They actually had to undo the boot rather than open the doors.
