Anyone read this rediculous article on NPR?

I took it as the author believing that Schumacher was stupid, irresponsible and that skiing off-piste is something that no upstanding member of society should do. Seriously, "from-the-gut feeling of rage that it was all so preventable … it’s just as irresponsible and impossible to neglect to note that the whole thing should never have happened."

He's not just noting that you are assuming a greater risk. It's that it is foolish to do so. Well, swaddle me in bubble wrap and short-rope me to a ski patrol so I don't do anything stupid--or fun--ever again.

Yeah, I think maybe I was being a little too charitable. His rhetoric does seem to suggest that he thinks skiing off-piste is something that reasonable people simply would not do.

every newspaper or radio station has one like peter may, just flip out a article on something you can't even take the time to research, show how clueless you are on the subject and collect your money for writing dribble. problem being all the clueless people who will read the article and think he is right.

Bob Costas is the Peter May of the Olympics. He ruins the whole thing and should just stick to basketball or whatever he does in non-Olympic years ...

So basically he's telling you what you should and shouldnt do in life?

Yup, he's definitely well-suited to work for NPR.

Heck, if he plays his cards right and does a piece about how many calories people should be "allowed" to consume per day he may even get a job at The New York Times.

I completely agree at the risk of being brutally attacked by the conservative white circlejerk on here. NPR is freaking awesome when driving long distances!

+1

Haven't found a "private radio station" anywhere in New England or elsewhere that I've lived that has offered a anywhere similar listening experience. I don't like anywhere near all the content, nor do I agree with the bias of many of their regular contributors, but there is no other radio station like it.

and this morans uniformed drivel in the skiing article certainly will do nothing to change my opinion of NPR as a whole.

I am a big NPR fan as well but maybe they should stick with the audio thing and not so much typing.

These cognoscenti articles aren't paid NPR news people. Just locals who have some sort of expertise in a given field. Peter is obviously one of their "sports" guys and was probably asked to comment on the Michael Schumacher accident. The problem with blogs is that there is often no editing or peer review so this lame ass post got put up. Either way it shouldn't be mixed up with their professionally produced shows and news.

I'm a fan of Bax and Obrien in the morning out of Springfield, MA. Funny guys and usually some good topics.
