Alrighty then....Just bought the AMC Gold. I'm a teacher so, I tend to ski on blackout days. I didn't want to risk being stuck on a holiday with a bronze.

To answer my tax question. I only paid the $599. No taxes added.

ASC Season Pass

I bought the Bronze because I am a retired teacher and always hated having to pay inflated "blackout" date holiday prices. I now ski ONLY from Monday to Friday. It is Nirvana! Even paying just midweek regular prices, the Bronze Pass pays for itself in from 5 - 6 days. That is a WINNER for me. It also means that when I can't or don't feel like making the trek from Suffolk County LI to VT or further, I don't feel too bad about hitting Jiminy with their "Value Card" or even just paying the midweek price at Hunter, Windham or Bellayre. As I have posted somewhere here before, I also like the more relaxed feeling I have about starting either later in the day, or ending earlier because conditions are not optimal. I don't feel cheated out of slope time. I agree, that ASC does seem to be reaching out to us "non-wealthy" folk who can't (or in my case, refuse to) handle the "premium resort approach" to pricing. Since I now have great time flexibility I have been fortunate to make some friendships with individuals who also can go midweek and who are inclined to share rides (and the costs involved), lodging costs, and even one person who has flat out invited me to "use his ski house" since the "heat is on" and he "likes someone coming around to check things out." How's them apples?
BTW, I believe that the only time you pay tax for an "online purchase" is if the business operates locations in your respective state. It is always wise to check and see if when completing an "online" transaction there is some statement to the effect of: "For residents of ------ state, add X% tax." If that is the case, buy from someone else if the product is available that way.

I purchased the bronze pass yesterday at Killington. My son and I both have a ticket voucher from the May 1st slalom good anytime at Killington/Pico (except Christmas)until January 13th 2006. So I would use the vouchers on November 26th when we have a blackout date that cannot be used.

Other than that, we do not ski on the blackout dates anyway.

Ga2ski we get 2 black out dates back, that is kind of cool. I'm with my family at Loon on the Holidays so the black outs never bothered me anyway. Those days are usually a few early runs and party day. :D lines to long.

Any gold or platinum members using their free perfect turn clinics? You can't transfer them, so I may do a few snowboard lessons. I don't know much about the schools at Attitash, SR and SL .... do they offer expert clinics? K-Mart and MS only offer up to blue square, I think.

Sugarloaf offers workshop type group lessons with programs that change focus on powder skiing, moguls etc. I took a private lesson in February at Sugarloaf to learn how to ski better in the deep (24"+) of powder that fell during our stay, and the instructor was about as good in the deep snow as I was :-? .

I boought the Bronze. If I use it 5 times, I broke even.

Having a season pass is more than saving money, it is the convenience of not having to wait in a line to buy a ticket. So for 5 times at one of the ASC places it means more time on the slopes!
