Hi all - just started college in central Mass this fall and I hope to do some skiing this winter. Whats the best ski area in Massachusetts? I'm looking for a challenge, not a whimpy hill. Thanks.

I've only been to Catamount but it's only half in Massachusettes. Greg, you went back to school?

I guess you had missed the fine print at the top of the post.

Berkshire East all the way. It's got some interesting terrain. Nothing too serious in terms of difficulty but a few good glades and they let some runs bump up which you don't see in MA that often.

Jiminy Peak would be my first choice. I should add, the only other MA areas i've skied were Ski Butternut and the now defunct Brodie.

Sorry, but it's not winter any more. Regardless, all ski areas in Massachusetts were bought out by the Ski Sundown Megalithic Bump Construction Company. SSMBCC shut down all areas between 2002 and 2010. Since that time, the SSMBCC has gained the title of the most non-wimpy ski area in Southern New England.

By now, you may have graduated. Maybe not. I would recommend moving to North Carolina for sweet skiing on one of the Eastern Seaboard's greatest resorts, Sapphire Valley Ski Area, with 200 awe-inspiring feet of vertical descent, served by it's super-high-speed quad, which can deposit over a thousand skiers per hour onto our single slope, which also serves the snow tubing center. No waiting! At least not at the bottom.

I'm packing my bags. :daffy:
