Well sounds like I need to take trip to the Bush this year, I never new it was so much steeper then anything else on the East Coast. Not knowing the Bush at all, I would blindly say Sugarloaf stands up to it.......but I will have to truly find this out for myself.
Not sure where I said it was the steepest in the East.
The argument for Mt. Ellen is based on the lift elevations. Once the bottom melts out, you've got a middle lift starting at around 2000 feet elevation that you can still ski to from the summit, which would offer about 2000 vert. Once that lift melts out, you have a summit lift that STARTS at 3000 feet elevation. Both of the upper mountain lifts access the lower lift to download. Take a look at the trail map and you'll see what I'm talking about with the staggered elevations.
I suppose Timerline starts at a similar elevation at the Loaf, but the terrain you ski off of that is no where near as good as what is off of the Summit at Mt. Ellen. I'm referring to the actual Timberline Pod of trails, not White Nitro, Gondi Extension etc.
