I did opening day at Woodbury on November 9th, 2003 and it consisted of a rope tow serviced run of about 100' (the lower part of the hill) and we skied it More for the novelty of early season turns than anything else.

The early season skiing is more for snowboarders as they make snow on a few hits/jumps built into the hill.

Cool Steve. I'm a big marketing fan. I think the blowing of snow had two purposes. To stay open and for the obvious marketing value. Looks like it worked. Still being talked about today.

There have been times I've considered hitting Woodbury on day one, but even at only 30-40 minutes, I don't think it'll be worth it. If I only lived 10 minutes away, I might consider it. Some feel turns are turns...

I've thought about it. It's not very far from where I work, but I still don't think it's worth it. IIRC the ticket price is a little lofty for a small patch...

Three years ago it cost $27 for basically 10 turns and a ride on a arm wrenching rope tow.

Still I am not sure if it is worth it this year if he does open early, except for the fun of beating 99% of the rest of you folks for first turns:wink:
