Date(s) Skied: 2/7/2010

Resort or Ski Area: Blue(bird) Mountain

Conditions: Bluebird Day at Blue

Trip Report: Day 22. Bluebird day at Blue the True Mountain. I was the 2nd person scanned in and made 1st chair with Toast and AtomicSkier. Every trail was great except for Switchback. Dreamweaver was fantastic. Razor's was fantastic. Crowds built up super quick! The 6 pack needed a liftie before 9AM . Just ripping arc after arc today, effortlessly. Crowds were the most I've ever seen at Blue. They are having a fantastic day sales wise. I left a little before 11 after 16 runs. I wanted to stay for more, the conditions were prime...

Same here Root. I left at 12:30. Did not want to leave because the conditions were so good but the lines were stupid long. 6-pac broke down for about 15-min around noon. There was a mass migration to the quad. VIP lines where better then nothing but still brutal.

great pics as usual root. this sure beats, (i'm assuming) the halftime show.

obviously, i'm bump centric but there's some shine on the backsides of those babies. not surprised either.

crowds look crazy.

Wow, those are Mt. Snow kinda lines. Now I understand why going to Saddleback would be a huge culture shift.

How much snow did you get? If any, it looked like it was packed flat, 'cept for one desperate effort to hit a drift.

Tarp, Root:

Congrats to you guys and Blue does look better with some natural snow on the mountain. Meanwhile less then 15 miles to your northeast (backside visiable in some of Roots pictures) Camelback recieved all of a coating, Elk got nothing. Acted just like the models said, came up and touched us then faded away. Hopefully we get in on some action this week. Skiing was still good.

Nice to see bumps on Challenge finally; with more pitch than Main Street it's a perfect place for them. Unfortunately, no one is on them in your pics.
Btw, what's that "temporary" lodge being used for? The last time I was at Blue it wasn't there.

I was there yesterday too Crowds were insane on the 6 pack and Quad. Each run was basically 15-20 minute wait, 5 minute ride up, 5 minute ride down, repeat. wish the runs were a little longer but then again I am spoiled now by the bigger resorts I have visited.

Just crazy for a sunday and it never thinned after lunch as it does at other resorts(probably due to the night skiing). It was probably me and just about everyone else who looked at the accuweather map and the ski report(5 inches overnight?!!) and thought this was the north most resort to have gotten anything from that wasted midatlantic storm this pass weekend. Coverage was good overall although the surface was choppy/skied off due to high traffic by end of the day. Weather was ideal-warm and hovering around freezing.

Overall, I liked the area. this was my first trip there and it seems like a good option for night skiing and weekdays. it was a tad closer to NYC than the catskills and beats Mountain Creek and Camelback terrain wise. Actually, it reminded me alot of like Belleayre's layout.

I think that's because Root is there early early in the morning. You have to be awake to ski those bumps and the shadows at that hour are no friend either. When I was there last weekend and the sun got high enough there were plenty of people skiing them.

You are correct. There were plenty of folks getting a good workout on the bumps on Sunday. The general game plan is to get out before the crowds show up.

Nice length field.
I think they made the bump section 1 bump width smaller though.
