Blue is better FTW..

Dude. I was talking about Shawnee Maine. In response to deadheadskier's comments about the nearest thing he knows to Blue is Shawnee, which is an hour away from him and he lives in ME. Hence the assumption that he was taking about Shawnee ME, not PA.

As much as you couldn't pay me to live in PA and not simply because of the lack of 'mountains', I must admit I'm kinda jealous of steeze. I'd love to have a 1100 vert area twenty miles away. Nearest thing I got is Shawnee, which probably isn't all that much better and it's over an hour.

That said, I'm happy I don't have to drive five hours plus to get to a big mountain.

I have 1150ft 27 miles away (Jim.Peak)

Not sure what the pitch at Blue is like, but the aerial shot shows some twisty trails. I figure it's probably at least as good as Wachusett.

Blue Mtn looks fine and frankly i wouln't mind having it closeby > To me anything that you can slide on in 1000- 1500 vert range CLOSE BY like 30 min would be GREAT

No one said you do. Just saying, nothing wrong with Cape Cod for a week doing the tourist thing. Especially the lobster.

You really need to come to Maine. Colder water = better lobster

though most would say the swimming isn't quite as nice. 60 degree water can be a shock to most people.

Been to Shawnee and Blue - Shawnee is way better, no questions asked. More challenging runs and more steeps than Blue. Blue does a great job with what they have though.

oh Shawnee isn't a bad place. I just work until 6:30 every day and they close at 9, sometimes a tad earlier when its cold. Spending two hours in the car for an hour and a half of always groomed night skiing is rarely worth it for me, though I have done it. If Shawnee was 30 minutes away though, I'd probably get a night pass and be there a couple nights a week, especially if they had decent bumps ala Sundown

It is pretty cool---I live/ski right around the corner from Greek (1000 vert???), granted a small hill, but it's close by and they do have a few good trails.
