Wow, I would say those were the best answers to any challenge this year.

Three points that really caught my eye:

-300''+ per year
-guided backcountry
-trees were skiable on closing day last year

I thought Bolton was a hole in the wall but it is now definitely on my list of places to check out this year.

Bolton really does get alot of snow and it increases tremendously with elevation. Last March Waterbury had 3-4" on the ground while Bolton had 10"+ on the ground. While I did get to ski some of the glades, alot are unmarked and hard to find, but a few more visits will reveal them.

3rd time is a pleasure

This will be the third year my now-flatlander family will be skiing at Bolton. We stay with friends at Stowe, but have become disillusioned with the upscaling/upexpense/upcrowds at Stowe. Bigger does not alway make better. My family really took to the glades last year for the first time. All the girls were introduced to and mastered glades. Only my wife stayed one the groomers. Burgers are about 50% the price of Stowe and you never have to worry about parking far away. We've already bought our tix.

I've skied on and off at Stowe for 25 years. I'm simply tired of chute-like "sustainable veritical" trails where you can see all the way down. The unpredictibility of glades is a new thrill for us. And with the amount of snow Bolton gets, it's always a pleaure.

Who cares about accessibility from the highway? It's not that far away. Ski with the locals. ski like a girl. Sometimes bolton feels very retro depending where you are, and I like that. But they've kept things modernized, lifts run. The only Bellyache I have is those D**N plastic seats. My daughter slid right out and so did I when I grabbed her. Upside, we both landed laughing with nothing broke. Sorry, no photo-ops....

GREAT place.

I want to thank AZer kbroderick for making this Challenge happen. He wrote me a request in May or so and we had a hard time finding someone to take it, so he took it upon himself to get the questions and talk with Bolton Valley Owner Bob Fries. Not to out him, but kbroderick works for Bolton.

It's great to talk with some resorts that many folks don't hear much about. Even better when someone sees this as an opportunity to connect our community with the mountain. I think this says a lot about you as posters and the resort and what it values.

Great vibes here. Hope it continues. My vote is for an AZ Night under the lights at Bolton...
