Resort or Ski Area: Bolton Valley Resort
Conditions: Machine Groomed, Packed Powder, Powdery Sloppy Seconds (and Thirds) in the woods
Trip Report: Took advantage of $22 lift tickets via Liftopia to open my season at Bolton Valley. Snow report had 17 trails open off of 3 lifts (Vista Quad, Mid-Mountain Double, and the bunny slope). Aside from the limited terrain, it was mid-season skiing, especially in the woods. A powder snob would have considered Vista Glades tracked out, but I had a blast picking my way down and trying not to embarass myself. There was a lot of deep snow lying around between the marked trails, and if I was able to find it, anybody can. Wilderness Peak wasn't open, so I only saw half of the resort, but I loved the mountain. There's lots of interesting terrain, the only notable exception being that there aren't long sustainable steeps, which is fine in my opinion because my legs were too tired from being in the woods to maintain a crouch anyway. Temps were very comfortable at 30 degrees in the morning, wind started picking up near the end of the day and it started to snow during our last run at 2pm. They're reporting 5" overnight. I-89 back to NH was quite a shit show.
FYI - $15 lift tickets all week.
