I have reached the point where I have succumbed to using boot heaters. I have to admit that they make a cold day on the slopes much more enjoyable. However, I’m having trouble keeping the batteries clipped to the back/side of my boots. I check them throughout the day, but usually by the end of the day they are dangling by the cable inside my pant leg. Does anybody have a suggestion as to how to secure batteries other then the factory supplied clip?

Well,
A fellow on a Usenet group...back in the late 90s, IIRC... rigged up a little protective plastic casing, drilled slot(s) for wires, and applied tried & true ducktape...but he drilled through the shell to fasten with bolt/washer...etc.
It wasn't just any half-butt, weekend-warrior effort...he was a patroller at Vail...off in the back-alleys, and really depended on the heater(s) (forgot the name!;-)...the top selling heater..) with his Atomic boots...

I have hotronics and cannot survive a winter day at Sugarloaf without them. I pull my ski pants down over my boots and keep the battery packs tucked inside. I have been skiing with them this way since January 2004 and they worked well even at -25F at Orford.

Weird. Ms. Trailboss has had no problems with her ThermIc models. The clips on those is very snug and tight.

You guys are either in denial or totally insane...how can you posiibly discuss boot heaters on a day when it feels like a blast furnace outside?

This was me at Mammoth on June 9th in full winter gear. Going from 108F in Las Vegas to 28F at Mammoth was a bit of a jolt to my body, but I am also chronically cold when I ski. The boot heaters are a blessing because when my feet are warm the rest of my body is comfortable.

It's simple. Sit in an air conditioned office all day with no windows, so you can't even see how sunny it is...
