Castelli Confronto Jacket

BK.jpg

Let's face it, a dependable jacket makes the difference between sitting at home and riding your bike on a rainy day. However, while many jacket makers make claims of waterproofness and breathability, a select few actually exert the time and money to test these claims. Not surprisingly, Castelli is one of these rare breeds, and its new Confronto Jacket proves just what a little obsessive TLC will do.
To make the Confronto jacket your go-to for wet weather riding, Castelli constructed it from the Torrent 2L fabric. This material is completely waterproof, wind-resistant, and highly breathable. And while we're always hesitant to support claims of waterproofness and breathability, this material has a water column rating of 10000mm and a Moisture Vapor Perspiration (MVP) of 8000. Additionally, Castelli has also taped the critical seams of the jacket, included at the high collar, and installed a waterproof zipper in order to keep water from trickling in unexpectedly. For breathability, Castelli placed two large ventilation ports on the rear portion of the jacket. Together, the fabric's attributes and characteristics provide a level of protection that keeps water from getting in, but rapidly assists its getting out.
Just as importantly, Torrent 2L was selected for its high degree of stretch. As a result, the Confronto provides a hard-shell level of protection with the feel and freedom of movement of a softshell jacket. This clever system of protection also accentuates the purposeful cut and fit of the Confronto. Essentially, the jacket's shape has been cut to mirror the body in the cycling position. So, you'll notice that the back has been elongated with the sleeves. This way, the annoyance of fabric bunching and pulling has been eliminated while you're on the hoods or in the drops. Now, there's no chafing or seam abrasion, and Castelli even took the extra step of lining the jacket in breathable mesh in order to ensure this.
The Castelli Confronto Jacket is available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Black, Black/yellow fluo, and White/red.
