The hits they already rough shaped on Inferno are ridiculously HUGE! 18 wheelers full of gear for the tents/stages/TV stuff started arriving today also. This is going to be a BIG event!

I want to go up to check this out...on the other hand, I don't know how nuts it's going to be up there. I would like to get a few runs in at the main mountain.

If it's anything like it was when the Winter X-Games were held at Mount Snow back in I believe 2000(or a year or two either side of then), it was an AWESOME experience for the spectator. The biggest challenge was getting there, since at times it almost seemed like Route 100 all the way from the Mountain down to Wilmington was a parking lot  Once you were there though, it was GREAT. And atleast as of yesterday AM, truckloads of gear to be set up around the Carinthia Base area have started to arrive.

as far as I've heard, there's going to be tons of shuttles running through the valley and from overflow spots in wilmington...

word is one of the bad parts of the Breck stop was that it wasn't really spectator-friendly...lots of hiking and expo stuff really spread out. layout for MS will be right in the Carinthia base area so easy to check everything out and watch the comp

Looking at site lines last weekend at carinthia, obviously seeing the whole pipe from the base area is no problem. On Inferno, you're able to see the last 3 hits(okay the way that they had the last hit roughed in last weekend, you'll be able to see the air and *most* of the landing of the 2 hits above it(the last one is HUGE). If they've got a couple of jumbotrons in and around the base area, it should be very fan friendly.

In all seriousness though, if your driving up on saturday/sunday and they have a satellite lot down in Wilmington BEFORE you turn onto 100 North, park there, as the traffic jam at the 9/100 South light in Wilmington in the afternoon will be ridiculous. Folks coming up 91, might almost be better off taking 30 out of Brattleboro upto where it meets 100 in Wardsboro and then taking 100 South to get to the mountain.

I know myself, my plan is not touching my car from when I get up there Friday until I leave on Monday and just using the moover system and/or my 2 feet. The only thing that would cause me to break that plan would be an emergency, such as a sick kid or heaven forbid I run out of beer in my fridge!

was going back up from hartford from a gig and there were billbaords everywhere of the dew tour. mount snow must be pretty serios about this.

The advertising budget being put up by The Dew Tour/NBC and Mount Snow itself is $250,000+

Some more pics of the set up I took today!

A winch Cat working some of the final hits on Inferno

The Superpipe with the light towers being set up

Judging/TV stand at the bottom of the Superpipe

Production trucks in the Carinthia parking lot

The size of the features on Inferno is unreal! You could see from the Heavy Metal chair on Sunday that many of them were topping out ABOVE the tree line

Word is the features are much bigger then the ones at breckinridge. The pipe is huge, much bigger then the xgames pipe was.

I believe it! Even my wife yesterday who usually could care less about what the park features/pipe looks like was saying "Wow!" after seeing things.

The pics I took, especially the Inferno one, really doesn't do justice to how big they are. Just wishing I had the camera with me on Sunday as I was riding up Heavy Metal. Just wild looking over towards Inferno and seeing SIGNIFICANT portions of the trail ABOVE the tree line!

It should be a good weekend for actual skiing. When the X Games were there the slopes weren't very crowded at all. The event seemed to draw in a lot of spectators but not a lot of people who wanted to ski. It probably even scared a lot of skiers away. I believe that was even one of the excuses when the ASC/ESPN went there seperate ways, the original agreement was for 3 years at an ASC resort. But who knows what really went on behind the scenes.

It will be interesting to see what the crowd volume on the hill is this coming weekend. One of the things that Mount Snow is doing, since the competition doesn't get going until 1 on the weekends each day, is offering up a morning 1/2 day ticket each day, so that if folks want to get there early and ski/ride, they can and then NOT miss any of the events.

Talking with some of the ambassadors yesterday, they said that they're planning for a BUSY morning on the hill on the main mountain side and then a quite afternoon, where parking lot duty will be more important than on hill duty.

I know that my plan will be to ski from about 8 until 11/11:30ish. Then take the Moover back to my place, change out my my ski gear and into some "spectator gear". Moover it back to the mountain and then likely walk over to Carinthia with my camera gear and take in the sites/sounds that I'm sure will be impressive. I'm going to try and be back to my place by 4:30 so I can see what NBC puts on TV.

Unlike when the X-games were at Mount Snow and they had competition sites on the Main Face, Infront of the Sundance lodge and at Carinthia, having everything at Carinthia will be great for ease of viewing, but also a PITA for having everyone packed into a smaller area.

I feel like Benedict Arnold..... We're going to use our free tickets to Stratton on Sunday. I would love to see some of the action, but we really just want to get up and make some turns.

I expect a full report and pics Jeff! 8)
