It happens. The average skiing public are a bunch of savages. I would love to go off but I will leave it at that. My favorite is the guy that skis in the rain all day and then complains that his jacket gets a few drops of grease from the grip on the lift.

Ski Resort Management here in the Catskills claim it happens. Some of the complaints Management receives are truly unbelievable. Obviously the folks on this forum are too classy to try to scam the ski resort out of a new pair of skis.

If the ski resort really want to impress me with super-professionalism they should exchange that crappy ski for a snowboard. But heartless corporations these days...they're so heartless...to them it all about striking a balance between offering something people want to come back to on one hand and making a profit on the other hand. God they're so cheep. They should give free lift pass too. And maybe hire one of those "ethnic" types to help me haul my crap from my car to the lodge. It is such a pain in the focking ass. Those "ethnic" types work for like nothing. Get me two.

Not quite scamming, but my kids and I have broken our equipment at Belleayre, brought it to the ski rental shop in Overlook Lodge, and they repaired or replaced it for free. Of course I always tipped the guy not quite enough to buy a burger in the caf.

The repairs;
1. Kid's binding screws pulled out (2X, different skis - damn foam cores and agressive kid) - redrilled, remounted, readjusted, no charge.
2. Broken poles at midstation (2X - once me and once my kid) - found nearly identical replacement in the back room, cut to size, switched handle, no charge.

Awesome I broke my Binders on my old Kastle straight skis at Bridger Bowl and was given a pair of Rossi Cut rentals for the rest of the day for like 10 bucks..

I once did ask Atomic about such a thing, skis were two weeks old, ripped out the edge, about a 2''x3'' of base and blew out the sidewall. They also told me to hit the streets, it was worth sking the manufacturer, I knew it wasn't going to happen. Had to get a new pair of skis, thank god for ebay.

The closest thing to this was a friend who broke a binding last year. She went to the rental shop and asked if there was anything she could do to ski for the rest of the day. They loaned her a pair of rentals for the rest of the day. Slight variation...ask nicely to use a pair of rentals for the rest of the day, you might succeed. Ask for new skis...go screw. I don't think any ski area should replace skis or boards.

Belleayre has taken care of me a number of times when I broke a binding strap. They have good people in their rental shop.
