Hoping to make it up for the Sugarloaf trip March 31-April 1. Anyone that's been up there have a feel for if the snow will hold up? Looks like it's going to be warm up there this week.

I was there on Saturday. It was pretty firm then so the warm temps yesterday and today probably made for good spring skiing. Cover was very good even in the trees. The only time I saw rock poking out was on the usual suspects on Misery Whip. That being said, I'm hearing that the jet stream has already moved up to Canada and spring is in full swing. If the current warm temps don't abate and they don't get a good snowfall, you may see a rapidly receding snow line especially at the base. End of the month should still see some good cover though be prepared for bare patches. Glades and snowfields may be done by that time. Good luck!

Hoping for at least a Spring bump fest at that point.

I was at Sugarloaf all weekend. The lower mountain softened up a bit on Sunday (i.e., Whiffletree area, etc). The bumps off of King Pine never really softened up.

Natural snow trails (whatever is to lookers left of the King Pine chair, Bubblecuffer, Winter's Way, etc.) looked pretty sad.

The snow is up there... it just needs to soften up somewhat. I think trails with snowmaking will be good to go for a while yet.

Thanks for the report on Sunday. I was considering staying for the corn but had to get some stuff done in Boston. FWIW, I'll take the cold temps and hard bumps for now if it means preserving snow. I hope that the Loaf lasts into May.

Daytrip, baby! I was skiing the Loaf on Saturday then strolling on a Cape Cod beach on Sunday. If the waves were decent and the water warmer, I would have surfed to make it a ski and surf weekend.

^ I hope so too. Keep your fingers crossed but don't hold your breath. Brackett and the snowfields were closed on Saturday. I charged into some low angle woods and found out why. Let's just say only the Broons can play in there.

The only thing open up top was White Nitro Extension. It had good soft edge-able snow but, when I got near the crosscut, a skier and his buddies were down. One separated a shoulder so we had to call patrol. White Nitro itself was sheer ice and it was hard to get an edge in. By the time I cycled back up, all the front snowfield trails including White Nitro Extension were closed.

Were they closed because of coverage or because they never softened up?

That should preserve the base there anyway until it warms up for the summit ...

I think the best part of going to sugarloaf is just being there, its a real fun atmosphere regardless of conditions.
