Last season I saw a model of the area with the land below Mayflower marked as "future expansion". They just mocked up a couple other lifts and some generic trails.

Yesterday I heard from a homeowner that at the property owner's meeting the resort announced that they were moving ahead. They are going to open another base area on US 40 with more terrain, lifts, a hotel, and condos.

I found this last night:

And a general map of the area from the sky:

That would be a sweet area with the lake RIGHT THERE. And it would make our lives easier because we would not have to drive into Park City to go skiing. The Jordanelle Base area is kind of, well, incomplete as it is...a dirt parking lot, a ticket shack, and no amenities at all.

Read as the Deercrest mega $$ home development over in that general area needs more developable land for even more mega $$ homes! ;)

Are they just considering this now, or has this been on their master development plan for a while? If it is the former, then I wouldn't expect a single tree to be cut for at least 5 years.

I don't know how it is in Utah, but Breckenridge first proposed peak 6 in 06 or 07,and didn't start cutting until last August.

Well I think the model that TB saw is the same one I saw there about 8-9 years ago. So it's at least had some minimal planning for quite a while.

TB, so as I look at the map this stuff seems to sit pretty low right? does it get decent snow?

It's been in the plans for some time. We're also talking Utah and not Vermont, so things move fairly quickly out here in terms of review process.

That side is low and, if it is like Mayflower Bowl, it does not hold snow that well.

For Deer Valley, It's worth ever penny.

Such a great place and I can't wait to ski this new terrain!!

Agree on this one, i'm equally bad at skiing than i am at snowboarding but deer valley is an experience outside of the skiing

This would be my comment as well. I've been down to Jordanelle base once and it was way down there by the water. Seem to remember it being manmade snow as well (not bad though as it was warm). TB would a US 40 entrance be easier then coming through PC from Parley's?

Yes. You avoid Park City altogether.
