You beat me to it! I had the idea for this poll this afternoon, but I was gonna wait till the season got a little closer. Thats what I get for waiting! I think Woodbury puts alot of effort in to be the first because thats their claim to fame...

Good poll Austin!

i really cheered for woodbury the first time. just glad to see someone stick it to the mighty kmart for opening later than average. but now, who cares? kmart is the only real ski area open for decent skiing in the east in november, period, regardless of when in november they open. unless we get some rediculous november blizzard that lets the half dozen or so november open ski areas catch up. as much as i enjoy knocking the mighty k, they still have a serious lock on november skiing as no one else is seriously stepping up to the plate.

It is unfortunate for us, that ski Killington regularly, that ASC has chosen to open later in order to offer top to bottom skiing. I remember fondly the days of riding the truck up to the Canyon Quad and uploading from there; skiing usually just Rime and East Glade at the time; then when finished skiing downloading on the Canyon quad and riding the truck back. In those years they used to open in October. Now because of their new policy they have to wait until November to open. I am hoping that it gets cooler earlier this year so that they may consider opening earlier.

I voted Woodbury, as Killington is only interested in opening top to bottom now anyway. That takes too long to cover, and any joe with a few snow guns and a short trail-lift combo can beat them.

I voted for other. I think Okemo will beat Bretton Woods by a day. Now, if only they could open the mighty hills of Yawgoo and Ward in early November, we'd be all set. LOL.

Killington will open for one day so they can put an KILLINGTON OPEN headline with a color photo on the front of the Boston, Hartford and NYC newspapers...

Not like when they ran the K chair and loaded at the mid-station in October to mid-June...before ASC...

I did vote for the last choice, because I believe that Woodbury will once again be first. But is that any different then me making snow in my backyard?

they may be catching some flak, but kmart is really the only game in town for quality skiing in november and draws in everyone whether they have issues or not. i suck up my issues with ASC in november and deal with the crazy crowds and all.

Steve.. Well said kind of Where I was going.
Sunday River Does a good job in November also. I go to Loon alot in november also, because the crowds are smaller than the ASC mountains, but ASC has the most terrain early I think.

I'm thinking it will be Bretton Woods. I asked a question to them in the Az challenge on this. I did not get a definte answer, but the trend has been for them to extend the season on both ends.

Going out on a limb and gonna say Belleayre. It'll probably be Killington though - A41 marketing.

Other...

Don't count out Hunter...
They consistantly open early and given the right weather will open earlier then the 11/19 date they've eluded to..

Hunter has the snowmaking to do it...
