Yep, the 8.7 is a great Northeast ski, it was my skinny ski last year. If someone is skiing the Midatlantic, the 8.1 is a fine choice but for New England, the 8.7 would be one of the top skis for me as a "one ski quiver".
87 a skinny ski...what has this world come to? My powder ski is a Watea 94.

Just got mine. Interesting how they shook up the different categories of skis and ski waist width is one of the primary factors in determining the ski category

The Powder gear guide doesn't have anything narrower than 84mm.

Was a little disappointed by the gear portion of Powder. The McConkey coverage more than makes up for it though.

I got my Skiing today, Still no Powder.

The issue of Skiing seemed like it was phoned in. No articles, except for a decent one on Shane McConkey (although it seemed like a direct ripoff of an article I read in Outside Magazine on him), Gear Guide with not too much info (but a suggestion that people in the East ski on nothing less than 80mm waists - wtf?), and not much else. Hopefully it gets better next month.

Yeah, we got our copy of Skiing today, but I haven't even thought about looking through it yet. Next time I need to take a dump I guess...

Agree. Photos on the gear reviews were too small. No droolage. I think I'll keep next year's gear guide around longer.

Last years Skiing Gear Guide issue was 156 pages, plenty of articles and ads. This year 88 pages and minimal editiorial content and way fewer ads. Could be a sign of the times when the First Tracks article is "How Screwed Are We? What the Great Recession means to skiers."
