Usually I just get a long, but if there is a subject that I'm passionate (i.e.knowlegable about), then I'll stir the pot if someone is factually way off base and I recognize it. Life's too short to stir the pot all the time!

We all are who we are and all that, but here’s my take for ski forums.

Get Alongs - are usually very optimistic and good-natured. When someone writes something about a ski area they know they’ll chime right in with an upbeat reply. Conversely when things get negative they’ll stay out all together or try to change the momentum of the thread in a positive direction.

Pot Stirrers - are usually aggressive and very opinionated in what they think they know and they can’t wait to let the forum know what they think they know. They also seem to take pride in the notoriety they receive being a pot stirrer.

In real life I’d rather ski, drink, etc. with a Get Along. I really don’t like associating with Pot Stirrers. That said I need them here. Even though they piss me off with their crazy talk and not keeping it real (ex. Iceface, etc.) I need them. They keep me sharp and thinking. When everyone writes happy threads it can get mind numbing.

BTW – Jimmy G’s nickname is pot stirrer, but he really isn’t one he just likes to debate issues in a balanced way, so this post is not about him. I’ve met and skied with him twice and I think he’s a good dude. He can talk a blue streak though that’s for sure.:wink:

I think you're stirring the pot, IMHO :)

The answere is Both --it Depends i.e. its Situational.
Communication Styles and Leadershipstyle ,. Depends more on the Competence and Confidence or "Readyness ( skills) or Willingness rttitudes ) " of those with whom we interact

The key is knowing how to read the signs of another's Communication style then "flexing" to meet their needs for teh best possible outcome

I don't need to stir the pot because I already know anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.

People who think they know everything make things very difficult for those of us that really do.

People may say I'm elitist but it's just not true.

Elitists think they're better than everyone else.

I know I'm better than everyone else.

I live with two people, I like both of them
He likes both of me and I like both of him
They're my alter-egos and to them I'm wed
'Cause I'm happy I live in a split-level head

There's no civil status in my neighborhood
And its that kind of thinking, that keeps it so good
I don't take the lead but I like to be led
'Cause I'm happy I live in a split-level head

××× ××× ××× ××× ××× ××× ××× ××× ×××

I've lived in apartments, I've lived in a home
(so why should I move when the neighborhood's right?)
I travelled in trailers when I used to roam
(No Taxes to pay and no landlord to fight)
But now in these places you won't have me dead
(Now I call this living, what's more, like I said)
'Cause I'm happy I live in a split-level head {together}

I do what I want to; no worries, no care
(now you keep your ulcers, your ills, and what's new)
If anyone bugs me I climb little stairs
(you sure couldn't have them and live like I do)
Way up to a level where I feel no threat
(You think I have problems, but you do instead)
'Cause I'm happy I live in a split-level head {together}

The stair climbing's nothing, I couldn't care less
(I live with two people, I like both of them)
I don't rush for busses and trains are a mess
(he likes both of me, and I like both of him)
There's no one to care for, I don't make a bed
(They're my alter-egos and to them I'm wed)
'Cause I'm happy I live in a split-level head {together}

I like how I'm living, I'm nobody's slave
(There's no civil status in my neighborhood)
My head's above water, so don't make a wave
(And it's that kind of thinking that keeps it so good)
There's no door to lock and no do

After my stint at Powder Mag forum I stay out of the wars. I(t got so nuts over there that...well I just left it for good and never looked back. Skiing is one of the few good things I have left and I'm not going to turn it into anything negative.
