Just thought this would be helpful, moderators let me know if this is considered "spam" I'm new to the forum, don't know if this is allowed, but my friend who has used the Go Boston Card got an e-mail today about a Go Ski Card opening up for the ski season this year. Looks like a pretty good deal and has some lodging discounts too. Probably good for those of you not getting season passes this year. Probably make a good gift for the holidays too. Here is the website if you're looking for more info. http://www.goskicard.com

I had a quick look at the web site. This deal may be OK if you're purchasing the 7 day card, but with an $8.00 ground shipping fee ( ) cards for fewer days don't seem to be that much of a discount off of the full lift ticket price.

BTW, I wouldn't use this at Pats Peak unless you needed to use up a day...there are other discount deals for Pats that are better...

Thanks for the info, though...It's good to have some opportunities to get a few discounts that don't have blackout dates attached.

Hey jackaroo!

I think it's OK to post stuff like that as long as it's ski related. Best bet is to ask our site administrator Greg b4 posting, but I think he's OK with stuff that's on topic.

thanks

I went ahead and bought four 7 day passes for my sister and her husband and for my wife and I. I wanted to get them while they were on sale.

Overall, I think the biggest benefit is that there are no blackout dates, but i'll try to heed the warning about Pats Peak. Looks like I can pick up the cards in Boston too, but that would probably be a hassel for non residents. I don't mind paying a little extra to get it to the door, especially when i'm buying in bulk like this.

I've never skied Maine--how are Shawnee and Saddleback?

I've seen some posters here who really defend Saddleback as a great throw-back kind of resort and if the upgrades they have advertised ever happen, it could be a great hill. But IMHO if I'm driving all the way from civilization to that part of Maine, I'm going to Sugarloaf or Sunday River as a backup. Shawnee looks great from the road (never skied there myself), but some friends who live in the Portland area swear by it, especially during the week or at night to get a few local turns in. It's more a family hill, with the hardcore continuing north to Sunday River, Sugarloaf or even Saddleback.

I know Uphill Climber Bob will probably disagree with me, but if you live further than 2 hours from Rangeley and have a free weekend to go to Maine, you're crazy to pick Saddleback over the Loaf.
