Yes, stay away because Gore is over-priced, over-crowded, and most of all over-hyped. NY state markets the heck out of the place and as a result it gets very crowded, even on weekdays! Hunter and Mt. Snow are empty compared to Gore.

I would avoid Gore at all costs, especially on snowy days. I hear that it's a hell-hole to get to or get out of after it's snowed.

The so called "glades" are really nothing but a tree or two surrounded by ice and rocks. I strongly suggest that everyone stay out of their glades.

Hmmmmm I wonder where you ski?

Gore offers great terrain, better than anything in southern VT. for sure. The steeps are legendary, even if they are a bit on the short side. The glades are excellent particularly late in the season. Twister glades, High Pines, Double Barrel, and Burnt Ridge are all comparable to the terrain found in Northern VT.

Besides expert runs, no one has talked of the great cruisers found on the mountain. Sleeping Bear and Tahawus come to mind as great, narrow cruisers that hold snow (face north) and offer incredible views of Mt. Marcy and the rest of the High Peaks. The lower mountain also offers lots of fun, fast cruising.

Crowds are no worse than anywhere else and have been spread out better in recent years as a result new trails on the Bear Mtn. Summit.

The mountain does not get a lot of snow. If you plan on skiing the glades and steeps you will want to watch for dumps as they don't come as often and as reliably as other mountains. If you plan on skiing mostly intermediate terrain it won't matter as they have good snowmaking capacity.
