People typically skip out on Hidden Valley since Mountain Creek is less than 1/2 mile away.

Well, I think I might give it a shot, since Mtn. Creek will now only have about one lift that's worth skiing (Granite peak), since the other options are to try to ski through a terrain park (and probably have to pay extra to do so), or take my skis off after every minute long run.

Living in NJ certainly has its plus if you don't want to drive 1 1/2 hours up to the Catskills. You will definitely pay extra for the terrain park, but luckily they are consolidating it to one of their peaks... I believe South Peak.

No, it's going to be both South and Bear peaks unless something major changed, which just leaves Granite and Vernon for skiing.

I can go to PA as well (Blue Mtn is about the same distance), but it gets boring if it's the only place I go for close trips.

No snow tubing at Hidden Valley. It has been removed.

All ski racing at Mountain Creek will be at the Vernon base.

Racing will be on Zero G. There will be a special Race Room set up in the Cobblestone Village for the racers.

P.S. The new owners at Hidden Valley bought some more snow guns and are making lots of snow as quickly as they can.

Opening day at Hidden Valley was yesterday - Saturday 12/15/07.

I see they were open this weekend with Chicken Delight and the learning area. Their website says they will be closed on Monday and to check later for days open during the week. If they're open on Thursday or Friday with some more terrain I'll head up there for the day.

I skiied Hidden Valley today, they had Chicken Delight open along with Upper Highland Swing to Lower Breakneck. It was nice to be there, I couldn't help thinking that it was almost permanently closed. I did Chicken Delight once to warm up then just did laps for 3 hours on Highland Swing - Breakneck. A lot of fun. Good to see it open. Now we need some good snowmaking temps to get more terrain open.

Great to read a report from what was my "home" hill 30 years ago -- and that said report is not a new NELSAP entry.

If I had a nickel for every time I skied Upper Highland Swing to Lower Breakneck when I was a kid ...

I've skiied there a few times recently but I have a pass so I just get my boots on and ski, I haven't had any dealings with the staff, except the food service, which has been good. The conditions have been pretty good but they've only had the 3 trails open from the summit for a while now. They blew a lot of snow before the thaw but that melted what they had done on the closed trails. When I was there last Thursday they were blowing all over the place again. Their website shows that they opened more terrain today.

How's the terrain at Hidden Valley? Do they let anything bump up?

I was there today and it was the first time I saw bumps there, it appears the new owners let the bottom of Upper Highland Swing and the top of Lower Highland Swing bump up. There was a narrow groomed strip to skiers right for those who wanted to avoid the bumps.

Was there today too...hadn't been since early January and what an improvement! Today was a beautiful day and HV had pretty much everything open with good coverage. The bump run under the chair had some pretty solid ice on it, but everything else was really nice. Sure hope the storm tomorrow is less wet than the current prediction.
