How do they keep water from freezing in snowmaking pipes?

Naw... They just have some minimum wage employee go to the parking lot and scrape up some snow.

Was up at Jay last week. After they finished the snow making on Alligator Alley we passed over two hydrants on the water line with water pouring out into the woods at one of the low points of the line. At the top they had a hose connecting the air pipe to the water pipe. That way the compressed air will blow all the water out. If they relied on gravity some of the water would freeze first.

With movement the water can be below 32 and remain liquid.

You only have to ski down an unfrozen stream bed once to figure that out. :blink: Water can stay liquid well below 32 degrees air temp when it is moving. But if freezes DAMN QUICK to a ski. :angry:
