I don’t know how much longer I can wait. I’ve been watching ski movies since… well I always watch ski porn, I have a double chair hanging up in my back yard, I’ve checked out and patched up all my gear, my skies have had a heavy coat of wax on them since May and are ready to be tuned. I roller blade or mountain bike everyday to keep the legs in shape and of course I check out this board several times a day (work day that is). However I’m finding it harder and harder to distract myself from the fact that it is going to be 80 degrees today.

How do you deal with the lack of winter? :(

Well...

.....mountain biking, hiking, fly-fishing, golfing, rock-climbing, and off season training which reminds me that good things come to those that wait....

I visit my skis often to see how they're doing. The ski videos have been holding me over. NETFLIX has beefed up their ski video selection and it's been holding me over.

I spend my time driving my wife crazy wishing for winter. Seems to work for me. Not so much for her.

I keep myself into shape by going trampolining a every week. Running 3-5 miles, 4 days a week and watching dozens of ski movies.

Endless Winter was on INHD last night!

The only way I stay sane... I go out and mtn or road bike.

When I get that real antsy feeling, the road bike is the only way to kill it. I go out towards those really steep, grueling hils, and beat the shit outta myself (on the bike that is, no Me, Myself and Irene or Fight Club episodes to speak of yet).

The tired feeling helps (although doesn't totally subdue) the pain of waiting.

Not to mention, cruising back down any steep hill I tackle at 45 - 50 mph on one inch wide, 100 psi tires helps a lot too.

It's been easy all summer long this year. Distracted with house-related work.

In August I went to a local ski shop to do some window shopping...looking for gear for wife and daughter. Spent about two hours chatting with the owners.

Hoops, Running, Weights...got the blades in the truck but haven't laced them up yet. Maybe today if I can't get the hoopsters in adequate numbers. Looks like I'll be biking with a pal @ lunch soon.

Otherwise...the thought of skiing is only slightly veiled behind every conversation...otherwise my wife would have me committed. My daughter undersatnds...she kids me about skiing all year round.

This forum helps. Talk to or email friends I ski with who are also going crazy (misery loves company). I go to Whiteface, last weekend Oct. Fest, Lift evac., pro night, clean and paint our new room. That stuff is work for me, but its fun cause it has to do with skiing. It all leads up to opening day.

How do I deal? Not very well frankly. I was just thinkin' about it on the way to work today. I gotta get skied! But next weekend I'll tune the quiver and I ride 6 days a week to keep in shape. Some how, I always muddle through to opening day. But it ain't easy.

My Wife and I Mountain Bike, Hike, Camp, and Boulder to train. Biking thru some narrow single track keeps us on our toes for when we're hitting our favorite woods stashes on skiis!

Bouldering, its a form of rock climbing when one climbs up/on/around a smallish rock (10-20 feet or so) with no rope for training.. I know that didn't explain it too well, so basically its like rock climbing, but on a smaller and cheaper scale, and quite challenging.
