The season doesn't end when they shut down the lifts......

Jim: the VT snowpack at the resorts will last until mid April, that leaves a lot of time (1 month). The snowpack in the Ads will last at least that long. I've got a trip to Sorcerer lodge from April 21 - April 28(getting close to 2 months). Based on the Selkirk snowpack and last years trip to Fairy Meadows hut in the northern Selkirks, which was the same dates, the snow will be nice glacial pow on Northern Aspects. After we get home, I am sure Tucks and Marcy will be holding some snow(2 more months!!).

Once they close the lifts you can either hit the backcountry or just skin/hike the Northern VT resorts. Had a great run on SB's organgrinder last year on April 14 and the area was closed. Nothing like a Friday afternoon skin to the top and a ski down when no one is around, followed by a cold one at the Tav. I know those adrenalines are in the closet waiting for some spring turns. Drag 'em out and make the season last into May, cus once it is May, it's only 5 months til the start of the next season........just ask Riv, he's always skiing by Oct.

I'm at 46 right now. Less than last year at this time. I had been on the disabled list for a while, and it looks like I might be again. I can barely walk today, got appt this afternoon with my dr.

Perhaps you misunderstood my response to Andy...I didn't say there is barely a month left in the season, I was responding to his post that barely a couple of months ago people were whining there was no winter. My post was meant to pin down the time frame when the whining stopped, which was barely a month ago on 2/14.

I'm certainly aware of what you are posting...I spent last week in the MRV and am well aware of the good base depths.

I have a Presidentials trip planned for the first week of April. I also have a few day trips planned for mid and late April.

But realistically, after the end of April, I'm done. My 2 oldest sons' soccer really goes full tilt then (they've both been playing all winter too); if my oldest didn't have games scheduled up in Shelburne, VT on April 28 I probably would not get a skiing day trip in that late this season. Also, geography conspires against me. Sure, I can probably hike for turns at Hunter in early May, but driving 4 1/2 hours to skin up Sugarbush isn't happening.

Like I said earlier, I'm very happy with this season whenever it ends.

I think the turnaround began after MLK Day. That's when several weeks of consistent round-the-clock snowmaking weather happened. V-Day was just the icing on that cake.

Yes, the cold arrived on MLK weekend, and it stayed.

But I still heard whining about the fact there was no natural snow. After 2/14, that ended.

18 days so far this season - all at Sugarbush. Not bad considering an injury kept me from skiing until Jan 20th.

20 days
11 Sugarloaf
8 Sunday River
1 K / Pico

Things have slowed down a lot lately due to friends and family getting married, having babies, moving, etc. I still hope to equal or top last year's 28, but it's not a sure thing. Still, it's been a very good season, I've improved, and hopefully with more bump practice this spring I can lock in some of that improvement.

4, not counting my trip to Chile in August. Unlike Bob R., I hate these threads, because I see how little I ski compared to everyone else :) I'll be up to 9 a week and a half from now, and hopefully I'll get a few more in. My normal season is around 12.. I like to shoot for 15 though. I guess with my first year working and having to mostly find ways to go alone (have had lots of trouble convinceing friends to go), I haven't done as much as I would've liked... Next year I'll have a least one avid skier friend back in nyc, so hopefully that'll be motivation enough to increase my days.

I guess my measly 5 days are nothing compared to some of you. I did get a real late start to the season though.

2/18 Mohawk
2/25 Mohawk
3/6 Cannon
3/7 Loon
3/8 Cannon

And hope to get in another 3-5 days.

If it's a matter of meeting up with ski partners, you have plenty of opportunety on this site. I've met a number of folks and there all pretty cool. Of course maybe with the exception of BeanoNYC, Greg, bvibert, JimG, Trailboss, etc.... ;) just kidding, all good folks.

18 days so far at the following places:

Sugarbush 2
MRG 1
Burke 2
Magic 1
BEast 1
KMart 4
Mt. Snow 3
Stratton 1
Sundown 2
Butternut 1

I'm hoping to get in at least 10 more days this season. This year I've gone to the most different places in one season. Usually I stick to 4-5 places so in that sense it's been good to experience different mountains.

I love trying to hit new mountains. Gore will be my new one for this season.
