Was thinking about heading out there tomorrow and wondering if anyone's been there in the past couple of days. If so, how are the conditions?

Thanks

No idea, but...their trail count increased by about 15 between yesterday and today, and NOAA says they're getting 6-10 inches tomorrow.

Going up there tomorrow as the first day of a little trip, looking forward to some nice snow. Time to break out the fat skis

Only time fat is good....Everything I know says they got the goods. Pic, pics, pics - bring us some pics!

Pics will come when I get home friday, but they should make up for the little wait. :-D

Got two days of mad river woods next, so excited

Went there today -- burned a CHAD RNSNE comp ticket.

Place was chock full of FREAKING AWESOME everywhere. Didn't run Witch, Red Line or any woods. Slide, Magician and Black Magic closed. All but two of my runs were on the skier's left and center of the mountain.

Overwhelming crowds -- the lower lot was full, and about every third chair had somebody on it. Actually had to wait behind two other people for the Black Chair once. :) Every skier had the most ridiculous goofy smile as they ran and at least half of them were monster skiers -- well, better than me, anyway.

Sorcerer was groomed and disappointing but that was the only low point (and really, was just fine for a typical NE firm groomed steep -- much better than what was passing for conditions on anything @ Stratton on Sunday, but this season has me seriously spoiled.) The rest was about as good as it gets in Southern Vermont, ever. All ungroomed runs were full of soft, dry-for-the-neighborhood powder -- seemingly bottomless in spots, esp. in Talisman. Groomers were perfect for carving/teaching/newbs and ints.

Let me repeat: This is about as good as it gets in Southern Vermont, ever.

A very few sneaky snags -- one stream crossing on Heart, a couple big deep holes on Broomstick and one other run (damned if I can remember which one,) but really nothing out of control for the kind of expert skier Magic seems to attract and all were easy to get around.

Temp was in the teens all day but little/no wind except at top so really didn't feel it.

Get there this week b/c I don't think the base is there to last through difficult weather. Stupidly didn't leave enough time -- lift is long so get there early.

Will post a full trip report later if the energy -- just got in from a 3-out-of-four days skiing weekend, followed by working outside tonight until 10.

This truly is an awesome pseudo-trip report!

"chock full of FREAKING AWESOME everywhere"...

Can't get the smirk off my face visualizing that freakin' awesome report OG. Can't beleive the front lot was full............you must be able to pack (30) cars in there....................
I too will be there Saturday or Sunday, yet to be determined. I am psyched!

I am thrilled for Magic. Maybe they will make some money for a change. Every time I've been there, it's been easy to find a spot in the mud lot up front. Glad to hear there was nearly (!) a lift line. Long live Magic!

Well if you're out there just keep a lookout for the storm trooper on the grey K2's. That'd be me.

Gotta get that white helmet... ;)

2knees is planning on being there on Sunday too I believe...

Keep me posted MRGisevil. My preference is Sunday with 2knees, but my duties as an uncle may have to be completed at "youth pay thier age" at Mt. Snow Sunday (two neices, two nephews = $40.00 for lift tickets - and uncle Keith is the hero = priceless). In which case I will be at Magic Saturday. Great to be flexible! I'll have a decision probably later today.................
