The original plan was F-Lift. We'll see if that holds up. Management really seems to hate that plan, and it is admittedly very inconvenient. We'll see what happens with the weather...I'll know more tomorrow.

Our snowmaking manager posted a sweet video with new snowmaking photos. Link

Also, still making snow......F lift is going to be used on opening day, which will most likely be Wednesday. From what I hear there's already a 3' base at the summit.

Wednesday, huh?

I can do that!

I guess it's Killington or Mt. Snow for Monday.

Any of the Hunter Mtn snowmakers spotting tracks for a mother bear and two rather large cubs?

Last Sunday, I hiked up Belt Parkway and then cut across on one of the service roads when I heard something going through the woods. Looked over the edge of the bank expecting to see a deer but it was big and black and looking back at me. Then I spotted the other two large close to adult size cubs. Those big raccoons scampered off running east under D-Lift.

A few years back, Belleayre had a black bear walk under the running lift 7 at 9:30am on opening day.

I get paranoid about Bears..the last time I saw Black Bears was along the Appalachian Trail near Blue mountain ski area..I saw three..one of which walked right across the trail..Luckily I never had any run ins with Grizzley Bears when I lived in Montana..

That looks rad. And to think everyone was worried about when Hunter was going to fire up. Looks like they're blasting the upper elevations to Holy Hell just like I suspected. Those few inches of natural must make for a nice base for the snowmaking to cling to. Seems like a brief Wed-Thurs warmup and then right back to solid snowmaking temps. I'll be there a week from tomorrrow! Hoping for the mainline, Minya and maybe Ike by then. Upper Xover might be a nice touch too... ;) Temps looks killer starting Turkey night

They haven't used that bad boy in years. They used to drive it to the bottom of Racers. No more, a liabilty in the middle of the slope.

No, they ran it within the last few years, they had pics of it covering the base area. (They haven't uploaded the pic of the day archive with it yet or else I'd post it.)High-maintainence, and probably not very efficient, but....with the right temps, I think it's pushing between 700-1000gpm.
