I think more and more areas are wisely holding out till more consistent cold temps arrive. So often in recent years we watch all that expensive snow get washed down the drain, only to start from scratch again.I hate to say it but its probably the right approach financally.

They are being extremely frugal this year. They have not even hired most of the snowmakers yet.

Hopefully this just means that when they get a window to make sustainable snow, they'll blast the place to holy Hell.

Hey guys,

I saw Greg and Jim last night at media night and it reminded me that I haven't been posting in awhile. I see everyone is eagerly anticipating the season.

Nighttime temps are looking alright next week, but still not the deep cold we were hoping for. There's a definite chance of being open around Thanksgiving, but I wouldn't really hope for much sooner. We want to get a good base down and, as said, we want a few days to lay down some snow and open more terrain. Bookmark the blog -- I'll be updating every day or two.

We hired a bunch of snowmakers the other night at hiring day, and we have session 2 on Saturday, so we'll probably get a few more. Our snowmaking director says this year's crew looks pretty good. A few nights ago a bed of transformers arrived, and we've upgraded our snowmaking to the tune of around $100,000 for the year. We'll also be pulling water differently, due to the reservoir/permitting changes that took place earlier this year.

I wouldn't look too far out to see what everyone else is doing. We know what we're doing here and we'll open at the best possible time. Here's to a good season, and if anyone has any other questions, post, send me a message, e-mail or give me a call.

Also, Ed from Windham will probably be joining the discussion throughout the season.

ALSO, as I told Greg last night, the pic of the day areas WILL be up on the website eventually. Our webmaster and I are working on spilling content over from the old site, and it's been a long, tedious process, and will take some time. Stay tuned :)

See you all soon! :daffy:

Thanks for the update Jessica. I'm confident that once the trigger is pulled you guys will blast the mainline sufficiently within a matter of days. Hoping to get over there at the end of the month. Thinking cold!

I like the whole Windham/Hunter thing..

I wonder if it's a "my enemy's enemy is my friend" thing - in reference to the States treatment of the Bellearye expansion issue...

I'd pay a little more on my Hunter season pass to ski Windham at night...

We've actually heard that a lot. Personally it's kind of weird for me to see the strange relationship Hunter and Windham have had over the years -- our marketing department and their marketing department have been pretty close. I think it's a great opportunity for both of us, and everyone is really psyched so far.

As for partnership w/ season passes, not so sure if that will ever happen. We'll see what happens and how the Winter Card goes over.
