Out west - probably Imperial Bowl at Aspen Highlands

East - Chin Clip at Stowe - great trail itself with some cruising to be had up top and great bumps the rest of the way, plus great glade selections on either side of the trail.

I wouldn't call Kick Horse obscure. There are lots of incredible resorts in the Canadian Rockies.

definition of "obscure" includes: "out of sight, hidden, not famous or well known" - I actually looked it up to make sure. So I think that my usage of this adjective is correct.
Maybe some of you are really up on all great ski resorts out there, but I must profess ignorance in this case. I haven't heard of Kick Horse until this thread. By general definition, the place is definitely NOT famous.

I'm willing to guess that even a lot of people on this board haven't heard of it either, and we are already a select group based on our common interest.

As a tangent - I love obscure palces. Maye we should have a separate thread for those.
It could be an inspiration for adventure.

East - Nosedive at Stowe.

West - Rosi's Run at Copper.

East - Almost anything off the single at MRG, but Fall line - Liftline might be my favorite; Paradise, Middle Earth, or The Mall at SB South.

West - Any Steeplechase run at Aspen Highlands.

You prefer the Steeplechase runs over Highland Bowl? (excuse my earlier posting of Imperial Bowl - don't know why I mix that with Highland, but I often do)

I guess by the 'rules' of this thread, those trails would make more sense as they are lift serviced.

When I was at Highlands only the very bottom of the bowl was open (Y-Zones). I know they have since opened a lot more and would love to go back. But I think the Steeplechase runs would be better for the purposes of this thread as you mentioned (making easy loops).. In any case, while I enjoyed the Y-Zones and would love to do it again and try other terrain in the bowl, they were steeper/more challenging than the Steeplechase runs, and if I'm going to do a single run all day, I'd probably not want to choose something as challenging as the Bowl. Also, Steeplechase bumps up in some nice, soft, skiable moguls...I like those.

What's your view of the terrain in the Highlands bowl? Have you gotten to ski all of it? What is the Imperial Bowl?

Bumpsis.......you need to get out a bit more

KH is a well known hill, period. The fact that you are unfamiliar with it does not mean it is obsure. CPR ridge has some of the best exposure around.

1. East lift served: Rumble or Fallline/Paradise
2. East non lift served: Left Gulley or Chute
3. West lift served: Fishbowl at Fernie or KH hike to
4. West non lift served: Rogers Pass(ileciliwat glacier to Lily glacier)
5. Europe: La Voute at LG

on a good snow day, taft to upper to middle hard at cannon is fabulous. but you need two lifts to the top, so you can't really cycle that on one run all day.

Freewheeler

When it's open, Freewheeler at Ski Butternut is just fantastic.

It's the home of the original Cosmic Dowhill event between my best bud and I, early one morning on sub-zero freshly groomed snow. Tuck city. Truly out of this world, hence the name of our annual race.

Imperial is at Breckenridge - don't know why I often confuse the two. I thought the terrain in Highland was fabulous. I know they have since opened the other half of the bowl (skiers right) since I was there in 2001. Out of any place I've been, Highland just has this top of the world feel to it and the lines are exhilirating. Its no where near the most difficult skiing I've ever done, but probably some of the most fun. I'd love to go back

Thanks for the info. I figure since you were there in '01 you had more of the bowl than I did. I was there in either '98 or '99. I think it was the first year (though maybe the 2nd) they opened any of the terrain in the bowl. They also didn't have the cat service that I think they have now, so we had to walk.. We actually did pretty much the lower part of what you can walk to. I was with an instructor and it would be a waste to spend too much time walking during a lesson, in addition to the fact that I was taking the lesson along with my dad and aunt, and I was the only one who wanted to ski the bowl.

Probobly the Everglade at Jay. It's long and often times people get mixed up in how to get there (I did at first, maybe its just me?) so conditions remain good all day. You can also venture where ever you want and you will always end up on a trail.

For me it would be a toss up between Bubblecuffer and Winters Way, I would probably be one tired skier after laping either one all day.

Other runs that I could ski all day:

Mozart - Keystone
Garmisch - Aspen Highlands
Drop Out Chutes - Mammoth

Too many choices! (and not enough cartilege....)

I'll go with Gunsight or Greeley Bowl at Alta -- not the hardest, but a heckuva lot of fun. I could do that all day. Back East, hmm... I like the idea of MiddleEarth, or maybe the one of the glades at Jay (if we're just talking lift-served terrain).
